Year's End in Silara
The most important part of starting a new year in Silara is the night of the last day of the year. Lune has long been associated with Kerali making the night an ideal time to prepare for the coming year and conclude the business of the outgoing year.
Execution
The evening begins with a shared meal, usually between family and friends but government officials all share a meal together. The highest ranking government official then addresses the statue of Kerali, telling the deity of the various successes and failings of their portion of the government this year. An offering is given to the four deities and the official begs for their blessing in the coming year and for the greater success of Silara. Those that are not part of the government make a sacrifice in their shrine at home to the deities and often to various quasi-deities for success and good fortune. For every lie told that year, a person must say a short prayer praising Kerali and asking for forgiveness and they must sacrifice a Lunil Cake . The Sovereign Cleric of Silara often makes a show of sacrificing many Lunil Cakes and offering many prayers to Kerali, symbolizing the many lies told in the world. Staying up the entire night, preferably while gazing apon Lune is said to bring Kerali's blessing to any who can do it, naturally the Sovereign Cleric does so every year.
Components and tools
Popular decorations include banners, candles, and strings of lanterns. Round shapes are common, especially for lanterns and candles, and the colour white is used frequently. Clerics often wear sashes depicting Lune during the night. Food and drink made in the shape of round shapes are very popular. White, beige, yellow, and green coloured foods are thought to promote good fortune, health, and happiness in the coming year. Popular ingredients include eggs, rice, wheat, lentils, spinach, onions, yogurt, honey, and cucumbers.
Aw this sounds like a nice wholesome festival. I like the detail that the government officials do it together whilst everyone else does it as family.
