Nirrah Boli's Ring

Nirrah's ring is a symbol of the very foundations of the Ostarian Empire. Whenever we look at our flag we should be reminded of our empire's dream and strive to fulfill it.
— Nethu Kihri, clan head
Stories about how Nirrah Boli acquired her famous ring are diverse, ranging from she found it on her travels, to she was gifted it by a quasi-deity, to it being a Boli family heirloom. Out of respect, no one after Nirrah has worn the ring. It can only be viewed in her tomb around her finger. The tomb is guarded heavily and no grave robber has ever come close to the body. Some say that eventually she will be resurrected thanks to the ring. Others say that it be worn by her spiritual successor who she will allow to take the ring. Some even talk of Nirrah possessing whoever next wears it.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The ring is thought to be magical and give its user magical abilities. Nirrah's arcane abilities have often been attributed at least in part to the ring. Her sword, Cometfall, is usually considered to be connected to the ring in some way. Many think that they are part of a set or that the ring somehow enhances weapons. Some claim that the ring is the sole source of Cometfall's power thus explaining why the sword disappeared after Nirrah's death and the ring's subsequent inactivity. These theories have never been confirmed.

Significance

I'll give Nirrah Boli one thing: she does know how to pick her symbols. It shows her ambition...and her arrogance.
— Kalre Shumu, Proven Sovereign
The ring is very symbolic. Each band represents the three regions and sovereignties of Ostari. The three bands being part of one connected ring shows Nirrah's dream of a united Ostari. Like the different regions of Ostari, each band has an unique pattern. Finally, the middle band which represents the middle region or the Empire of Ostari is the most decorated, showing her nationalism and ambitions that the empire will unite all of the regions.

Despite her ring being entombed with her, every Head of Ostari has worn a ring. Usually this ring has a similar style to Nirrah's but out of respect none has been an exact copy. Rings are also usually worn by clan heads who think highly of themselves. It is often used as a symbol of the Ostarian Empire and it appears on the flag.
