Zodrul
The Zodrul were a species encountered by humanity only after they had begun to travel within the galaxy under the guidance of Suquedren and Geigamon sponsors in the age of the Trade Wars.
The twelfth and penultimate Friendship Missions in 2065, established a colony on Keldebron 9.II, a world controlled by the Zodrul. It is now thought that the colony was something of a test case for the peoples of Earth with the Galactic Compact, since the Zodrul are more inherently more alien to humanity than the races they had lived closely with before. By establishing a successful partnership with the undersea cvilisation on Keldebron 9.II, they proved themselves adaptable enough to benefit from the Helix Transit Nebula Agreement of 2087 AF.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Zodrul are somewhat reminiscent of giant earthly octopusses, although they have only six tentacles. The tentacles are strong. They have very large eyes and a fine toothed circular mouth.
Ecology and Habitats
The Zodrul evolved to live in the high pressure subsurface ocean of an icy moon.
Behaviour
Individual Zodrul tend to be aggressive loners, which has perhaps hindered their collective development. As a civilization they are not militaristic but they can be difficult to communicate with and prone to unpredictable bouts of anger.
Civilization and Culture
History
The Zodrul developed space travel and then interstellar technology many millennia ago and have participated in the Galactic Compact for longer then the Geigamon or the Suquedren. As a species they have not been particularly expansionist, so that even today they have far fewer colony worlds than either of the aforementioned. Their technological development is slow paced and may even be regressing, perhaps due to a species altering mutatation which has spread throughout their worlds and which seems to have reduced their intelligence. It is thought that they have fewer colonies than they once had and may be in long term decline.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
The Zodrul might be described as surly neighbours in the Galactic Compact, absorbed largely in their own affairs and with little interest in interspecies relations. They will co-operate on some projects but accept outside help reluctantly.
