After the
Suquedren recontacted the World of the Long Sleep in 1931 AF, marking the start of an age known as the
Trade Wars, small groups of explorers and human diplomats started to travel amongst the stars again for the first time since the beginning of the
Season Of Innocence, uncounted years ago. At first these contacts were few and exploratory in nature but they became more frequent when
Geigamon starships arrived at Earth in 1956 AF.
By 1971 AF, commercial interests were looking for a way to benefit from this new access to the Galaxy and the races of
the Galactic Compact, and adventurous individuals and professional agents of Earth's cities wanted to broaden their horizons. The Friendship Missions were a first serious attempt to establish multiple human outposts within the worlds of the
Galactic Compact on a carefully agreed and organised basis.
Between 1971 AF and 2087 AF there were a total of thirteen Missions conducted according to the standards agreed between the Galactic Compact and the mission sponsors, the various leaders of the outward looking cities of Earth. After 2087 AF, the Helix Transit Nebula Agreement, changed the entire basis of Earth emigration, opening up new and easier options for migration so that the strict protocols of the Friendship Missions lapsed and there were no more of them.
The full list of Friendship Missions is tabulated below:-
Incept Year |
Colony System |
Notes |
1971 |
Tanhedron |
A small moon colonised by the Suquedren. |
1987 |
Gattarexa II |
A high gravity super earth and water world under Geigamon control. |
1995 |
Caldemacus Minor |
The closest of the Market Junction Worlds to Earth, some fifty light years in the direction of Orion. The less massive world of a double planet system. |
2004 |
Solonasia |
An important Suquedren world on the Fine Matrix trade network. |
2019 |
Neo Fleverovia |
A Geigamon governed planet about the size of Mars some eighty light years distant, where there had been human settlement before the Great Forgetting. It was from here that Imylka Jhress returned to Anoomenon in 2023 with the Meditator. |
2028 |
Porewe II Radial 7 |
One of the "crafted" worlds built by an unknown extinct species, orbiting the red giant star Porewe II at a high inclination relative to the natural plane of the system. Now used as an industrial hub shared by many species. |
2034 |
Unaldov Prime |
A Suquedren colonised high mass super Earth in the general direction of Cygnus. |
2039 |
Ylbatys |
A Geigamon high yield agrigultural world in a system only 10 light years from Aldebaran. Six hundred years after this mission, Ylbatys would be identified as the source of a fungus that gave rise to the Listlessness Plague. |
2047 |
Concordia |
A regional centre of government for the Galactic Compact on a metal rich, small dusty red world. |
2051 |
Ilgammatron |
A Galactic Compact joint research station in the outer reaches of the Betelgeuse system |
2058 |
Mu Columbae 2 Group |
A Galactic Compact joint research station about 1300 light years from Earth, studying O type stellar dynamics. This was the furthest flung of the Friendship Missions by a significant distance. |
2065 |
Keldebron 9.II |
An icy moon with a subsurface ocean controlled by the Zodrul. The success of this difficult mission is thought to have counted positively when the Helix Transit Nebula Agreement was under consideration by the Galactic Compact. |
2075 |
Tan Raldack |
A small steamy jungle world orbiting a G type star about sixty light years towards the centre of the galaxy, inhabited by a sentient species called the Biolons, who originated in the Stained Worlds Sector. |
