Nathalien Whyteclaw
Captain Nathalien Whyteclaw (a.k.a. The Vindicator)
The history of the Whyteclaw family and their name is fascinating, if not also a little funny. The first one to take upon the name Whyteclaw, was Roderick, a Raion archivist, appointed by the Royal Court to oversee the built of the new Royal Library. A series of accidents caused a level of the old building to flood, rendering a portion of the books stored there unreadable. Roderick trying to save as many books as possible, discovered a book containing the history of the Whytelaw family. The book was heavily eroded by the water but an error in translation made Roderick believe that the actual name was Nathalien Whyteclaw instead of Whytelaw. When his error became apparent, his colleagues gave him the nickname Whyteclaw. King Ulf learned about it and found it funny. As a joke, to punish Roderick for his mistake, he officially changed his family name to Whyteclaw stating that the next male heir would need to take the name Nathalien. The next male heir came generations later, current Guard Captain of Mandrel, Nathalien Whyteclaw.

Personal history
Nathalien was born to a Raion mother, Rathesa Whyteclaw . His mother had been self-exiled from her home, claiming differences with her family. His true father is an uknown Raion, as Nathalien is pure of blood. Rathesha remarried a blacksmith in Mandrel and settled in.
Nathalien grew up watching the guards and mercenaries of the various guilds come and go. He dreamt of joining them and was able to do just that when he came of age. He chose to join the Iron Legion and rose through their ranks.
However he argued constantly with his superiors over some of the shadier parts of the Guild, like slavery and acting as hired killers. He eventually was transferred to the Iris Guard where he rose through the ranks and became the Guard Captain. He is now the longest serving Guard Captain and is respected by the majority of the population in Mandrel as just, albeit a harsh judge at times. Under his command the Iris Guard has managed to make Mandrel virtually crime free.
