Florian Del-Alloy Character in The Delta Space | World Anvil

Florian Del-Alloy

Origin

Del-Alloy was born human, as Florian Delalloy, on a space station in one of the inner sectors of The Delta Space. He was born into a well-off family, his parents holding high positions in a mining Corpo and wanted for very little in his early life. As he grew up, he developed a rather entitled attitude and often put his own wants before others. He often would get into trouble when out partying and would go a step too far, causing damage to establishments, accidentally harming others, etc. He wasn't mean-spirited, nor malicious, he was a rambunctious soul that did not understand that his actions had repercussions, as his parents would often pay for any damages before things became too serious.   Around this time, Delalloy developed an interest in cybernetics and began to install and replace parts of his body with these upgrades. At first, this was benign, and what he replaced was often not noticed unless inspected closely but soon enough he was getting full eye replacements, organ upgrades, and even built-in processing units that would hypothetically increase his knowledge. Though this is debated especially if you know Del-Alloy well.    However, one day he took a step too far, becoming involved in a back door deal for experimental cybernetic parts. An illegal practice in the sector in which he lived as cybernetics had to go through rigorous testing before they hit the market. This landed Delalloy in jail, and his parents decided enough was enough and left him there, cutting him off from any funds and from communication with the family as a whole.   Delalloy would serve a total of two years in prison, and would leave to find himself in a situation he wasn't accustomed to. He was alone, and without any support from his rich family. Without knowing what to do he began to wander, jumping from place to place any way he could, too prideful to call his family to ask for forgiveness. As the years wore on Delalloy would work hundreds of freelance jobs, usually with a technological leaning due to his aptitude and familiarity with cybernetics and ability to connect directly with computing systems. His addiction to cybernetics did not slow either, and eventually, he would find himself almost completely refabricated and resembled a fully mechanized droid instead of a modified human cyborg. He now has gold platted skin, chrome eyes, hair that doubles as connection wires, and even had a full-height enhancement shooting up over a foot taller than his prior height.    And while he has gained a greater respect for the working man, being one himself now, his partying ways have not diminished. Now going as Del-Alloy, a sneaky reference to his highly modified body, he still finds himself in a variety of awkward situations, though he doesn't break things as often as he used to. Del-Alloy considers himself quite the romancer and seeks out companionship anywhere he can from anyone he finds interesting or attractive. This often leads him to tense and awkward situations, as he really has no personal boundaries to speak of and will often engage in attempts at courtship with anyone, regardless of their race, gender, or marital status. Often doing so at the most inopportune times.   And while Del-Alloy has created a rather stellar reputation as someone who clearly has the talent to get the job done, especially when it comes to his technical prowess. He has also become known as a flake, one that will just as well see through a job from start to finish as he is to ditch it at a moment's notice to attend a happening party he heard of taking place nearby. This has given him a rather mixed reputation overall, and despite his talents, many who have heard of him hesitate to hire him due to his eccentricities.

Personality

Del-Alloy overall is a man (cyborg?) that will gladly pay for your drink, and your meal if it means a good time will be had by all. But he is also a vain creature with a huge ego, it is not above him to sit around telling tales of his exploits for hours. With each minute of the story being told speaking on how great and glorious he was in said adventure. His self-assuredness is above most of his contemporaries, and he believes that it is no question that he will be able to achieve the utmost completion to the highest degree of any job or task he is assigned to. And while Del-Alloy has much skill in areas of computing and technology, he lacks in other more social endeavours, and as his body becomes more and more cybernetic in nature he loses more of his awareness of proper social etiquette.    He has certainly kept all of his bravado, showmanship, and hosting abilities, but he has begun to lack the ability to judge where the line is drawn socially and has found himself in several awkward situations where he does not understand why he has been outed from a social group or chased out of an establishment. Usually, this has to do with coming on to people that either don't want to be engaged with or are otherwise already spoken for. Often he will find himself engaged in physical combat with someone and not understand why, and despite his cyborg parts, he is not a keen fighter and often gets dumped on his ass or thrown out in the streets. Del-Alloy has stated that his next investment will be a combat-oriented targeting system so that he can hold his own with these ruffians that do not appreciate his exuberant ways.
