Lomar The Scribe

Lomar was responsible for most of the discoveries that advanced our relations with the fey, including the Lomaran box*(his own personal invention) and the deactivated fey gates. He figured out the possibility for an empathetic link between a skilled magic user and one of the gelatinous blobs called Blobbers, which to this day is used as something of a living security system(though they only function during daylight due to their mysterious fear of the dark, which causes them to let down a maddening, piercing shriek in anything less than the light of midday). Lomar was one of the greatest minds in the history of man, and the world still hasn't recovered from his disappearance over forty years ago, during The Sweep* which took so many from us. His notes on faerie law are currently the single most influential document guiding the politics of the Lawperson's Guild, which in some ways carries on his work by continuing to research the effect of chaotic energies on the boundary between the mortal and fae realms. The star beneath which he was born predicts a long, influential life and a sudden, mysterious death. It is speculated by some(mostly conspiracy theorists that people have become quite adept at ignoring) that his disappearance during the sweep was actually the work of the Astralists.   *The sweep, of course, being that catastrophic event during which the dust of the ashlands swept through lower Venathel for a year and a day, carried by powerful winds that ripped the roofs from buildings and, according to some, stole people away in the night. *The Lomaran box is the small, cubical device used for the storage of Blobbers, which reduces the piercing shriek they make in darkness to more of a muffled sob so that they might be more easily captured or transported by those seeking to use them for security purposes.
