Wydirian Wool

Wyderian wool is highly prized and never sold to outsiders. Generally made and given only to others within the community as gifts of honor and appreciation. The wool is characterized by it's extremely bright coloring similar to the hair of many Wyderians. The most common people from Wydir are the Colorless Monks and they are known for their white robes and colored accents of wyderian wool belts, necklaces, bracelets etc.   While not well known to people not versed in Wydir's society, Wyderian wool is made from the hair of the Wyderian's themselves. They do not discuss why their hair has adopted such wild coloration as no other group of dwarves, elves or others have such riotous hair color naturally. The hair is also quite universally strong and grows fairly quickly.   On reaching adulthood the Wyderian hair is typically allowed to grow long for five to ten years with only minute trimmings, then it is ceremoniously shaved off and made into various objects. Children's hair is cut and fashioned by parents. Adolescents will grow their hair until near adulthood and make a bracelet for their betrothed. This bracelet of first cutting is typically held onto until marriage. Most Wyderian's will only wear white and creme clothing unless their job requires something else (such as butchers or tanners) and the only color in their Wyderian wool objects. Purists will have it made only out of the hair, while others will include semi-precious stones woven into the hair.   Wyderian wool objects are often gifted to friends, loved ones, and those respected. These objects are considered worthy of becoming ancestral heirlooms. This makes barbers of particular value in the society, and they typically will also know weaving skills to make the hair cuttings into different objects. Some of these objects are also enchanted to reduce decay or fading over time, or even others with special enhancements.
