Tilman

The magocracy of Tilman is headed by the wizard Lokesh Shroff and sorcerer Sandhya Kola. These ruling arcanists rule from the twin capitols of Huin and Liminit.

Culture and Festivals

Within the cities glassmaking and glass ornaments are highly valued. The fanciest homes often use colored glass dishes and windows.   There are two water festivals celebrated within Tilman, one for the ocean and one for the rivers. The ocean festival is named The Divings and it is related to the memorial in the Dutchy of Maltarn but instead of ritual sponge baths people practice lengthy and deep diving competitions. Lengthy speeches and bonfires accompany the competitions. The river festival is know as the Year's Opening, and is done during the heart of winter on the solstice when the natural year is turning. Men wear swamp creature costumes and jump from the freezing river to saunas and back again, ending the night by burning the costumes in the fire to warm up in their loincloths.

Architecture and Clothing

Many villages on the rivers build houses on stilts and fish and gather wild rice up and down the waterways. The plains have stone homes, many from older settlements that have been repurposed. Within the cities stone built and plaster coated compounds are common, as are wizard towers.   City and plains folk tend to wear leather jerkins and pants, often with clasps and stamped imagery. The river folk wear linen that is fine woven and easy to dry. Typically tied on one side with vibrant patterns.

Organizations

The Monastery of Cos is located to the southern region of Tilman near Isocania. The clergy of the Venestir, while not as active politically as they would like, serve the people throughout their struggles.

Structure

The council of mages unites all mages who prove their worth, and they manage each locality as autocratic lords of their territory.

Religion

While the general populace reveres the Venetsir, the leaders of the nation often take the agnostic or atheistic view, believing all magic is derived from the religious rituals themselves and not actual gods.

Agriculture & Industry

The plains of Tilman are productive with wheat and it's rivers fertile with wild rice.
