Castledown

An ancient castle crashed into the Henerent Plains during the destruction of the mystic engines a hundred years ago. Today it is avoided by the Mazalurk Tribes who regard it as unnatural and bad. Many adventurer's have tried to gain entry, and some have even returned. Those that return state that the laboratory tower scares them and they can't explain why.

Purpose / Function

The original owner is lost to the annals of history, but much is known about it's last occupant Orasen Leaback. He was a high agent in the Minam Empire's ministry of Internal Affairs, and was in charge of the only mobile command center for the ministry. This castle was able to move between all locations on the planet quickly and provide needed support for operations. At the time of the crash it is believed that there were several hundred agents and support staff within the castle.

Alterations

The evaluation of unusual objects was a mandate of the ministry, and the laboratory tower was added shortly after it was commissioned for use by them. It housed the secure facility portal pad and even included temporal countermeasures for wayward devices.

Architecture

The main castle is built in an anachronistic fashion, clearly designed to be imposing but lacking actual defensive features (such as crenelations without machicolations). The dark grey stone features thousands of gargoyles and ornate frescos externally. The side buildings are plainer, and built with a more column and post style. The Secondary towers were each built at a different time, and in different styles. The secondary towers include one of the Towers of Wind , the Laboratory tower, the Dungeon tower, the Dragonloft, and the Plain tower.

History

Prior to it's use by the ministry of internal affairs, the castle was in use by an Elven family. Prior to that it had been a school, a wizard's sanctum, and a mobile carnival.
