Bersmor

"In southern Knurden lies the village of Bersmor, home of the Chief of Grinne. The people of Bersmor have always resisted the ways of the Burbric Empire, but have recently been conquered by a new lord from the north bringing the same customs that the Burbric emperors once did.   Knurden's southern region is the region of Galladan, which, unlike the rest of Knurden, was part of the Burbric Empire between 200 AP and 450 AP. During that time the region was under the rule of the Burbric Duke of Galladan. During the Sixty Year Rebellion many outlying regions of the Empire revolted against their overlords and countless clans regained independence. The Duke of Galladan, however, managed to hold his territory together through that time under and iron fist. The cities and villages in the region required a long journey before they could break from the empire.   As a response the people of Galladan fiercely resist the Burbric culture and everything associated with it. After breaking from the Burbric Empire, the rulers of Galladan have managed to stay independent for centuries, until recently, when King Fjurmann of Knurden marched down from the north with an army set on unifying all the Knurdic clans under one banner. Fjurmann incorporated many aspects of the Burbric Empire in his government, including the feudal hierarchy that some scholars believe to have been the backbone behind the early success of the Burbric Empire.   The village of Bersmor is located in the Grinne hills and surrounded by woods and thickets. Chief Grundwal has been appointed as lord of Grinne, and forced to swear fealty to his new overlord. While outsiders may think this brings safety and prosperity to the region, the local people feel as if history is repeating itself."   D. Harewood, Fendlian Cartographer
