Halflings

Intrepid Seafarers

They might not seem formidable up front, but one thing is indisputable about the Halflings: they rule the Seas. Starting out as a seafaring race, the halflings developed an impressive mastery of navigation that was once only rivaled by the Elves’ own navy. However, after the The Battle of The Burning Sea the Halflings proved that none could dare challenge them on the ocean.   The Halflings have a long history with tinkering and have formed a society that thrives on diplomacy, civility, and refinement. They called this archipelago Hance, and it is a mecca for music, art, and exploration. They are not quite as formidable on land, and shy away from inland ventures whenever they can. Because of this tradeoff, they’ve become meticulous about resisting siege, and have developed efficient strongholds that are minimalistic, but capable of resisting drawn out attacks.   Halflings practice the Thadia Belief; the religion of the merciful lady which directs their society into a pattern of kindness and mercy. It is not uncommon to see Thadian pastors out of Hance, attempting to spread the Thadian faith across borders. Halflings are somewhat democratic, and each region has a minister that participates in a Parliament that discusses the best course of action. Their growing success has turned the Halflings eyes to gains and conquest and many of its denizens gossip about conquest, international loans, and the greater fate of their shining civilization. The Halflings are known as well for the conquest of the Gullica; a subrace of the Aaratica that they integrated into their way of life.
