Redcap

Redcaps are the creatures feeding on the blood.
They are of the fungi kingdom.
They are named like that after the beings from European folklore.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They are small humanoids. Their appearance can change depending on them being hungry or smelling the blood.
If they are hungry, their caps turn red and their skin changes to brownish color. In this state, they are very aggressive and will attack anything that could bleed. If they sate their hunger, their bodies lose all color and they become calm and playful.

Genetics and Reproduction

In their calm state, they can produce and spread spores. But for the spores to start growing, they need to be immersed in at least one drop of blood.

For the individual to reach its adult form from being born it takes them 1 week.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They drink the blood by disconnecting their caps from their heads and submerging them in the pools of blood. Then they reattach them, feeding in that way.

Biological Cycle

During the Dream (The Tree), all of their life functions slow down and they start to hibernate.

They live in groups of up to 30 individuals.

Facial characteristics

They have small, beady eyes and fake mouth with teeth that serve no real purpose.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Lower parts of The Pit but still in the area covered by the shine of The Tree.
They prefer places where it is easy to get wounded or the places where the conflicts happen often.
Almost always there is at least one group where there was a great battle.

Average Intelligence

They can use simple tools (mostly shanks), but they cannot produce them.
They can communicate between themselves by the series of shrieks.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Their eyesight isn't too good, however, they can smell a drop of the blood that's about 1 kilometer far from them.
