The Dwarven Dens

The Dwarven Dens are city-state-style Clan Dens that formed after the fall of the Dwenmir Alliance. The Clans hold respect rights to their Den under the Vor'Cral Pact, a treaty signed between the Dwarven Kings and the three Kingdoms; Ereban, Demaga, and Alterra.

Structure

The Dwarven Clan Dens are sovereign city-states where they are located. Under the Vor'Cral Pact, they remain independent from the rule of the nation in which they reside. In exchange, open trade and borders are issued to those of the nation they reside in. In addition, the Dwarven Clans are ordered to stay neutral about any nation's quarrel with another.  The Dens are ruled by the Clan Den chief, referred to as King. These Dwarven Kings represent the last of the Dwenmir Alliance's influence on the world. Due to much infighting, lost cause, and integration of the dwarves into the other nations, these cities and thus the Clan Dens remain unique and often not coordinated with the others. This is most evident in the case of Nidavillir, which is isolationist, and cut off from much of the world.  It is often presumed by many that if the dwarves ever reunited under the Dwenmir, it would be a reasonably contested power; however, with the neutrality imposed by the Vor'Cral Pact, a few Clan Dens would risk inevitable extinction by a rapid response imposed by their host nations. Thus, no Dwarven High King has existed since losing the High King of the Dwenmir.

Military

Under the Vor'Cral Treaty, the Clan Dens are not allowed any official military capacity and are restricted to a localized policing force only. This leads to a diminished capability to respond or deter external threats, barely allowing enforcement and governance inside their territory.

Much of the Dwarves directly worship the Creator God Moradin, however open worship is allowed and practiced by anyone who wishes to come to a Den.

Dwarves are a significant exporter of ores and metals and with the assistance of the Gnomish counterparts who are honorary members of Clan Dens, technological marvels as well.
