Reta Bronzefoot took over as Chieftain after Chieftain Nett Bronzefoot was killed during a raid on Pinnahear.
Reta, after realizing that the Bitter Daggers were using arrows laced with poison, gathered the blacksmiths to try to come up with a solution. After much debate, they came up with a design for a new type of armor. The armor would made with sharp angles so that arrows striking it would glance off. On the center of the breast plate, there was a sort of kink in the armor running from top to bottom at a 110 degree angle towards the sides of the armor. The same was for the back plate. The armor didn't completely make the wearing immune to arrows, but the hope was that it would be significantly more difficult for the arrows to penetrate the angled armor. The armor was heavy and required strong kobolds to be able to wear it and move effectively.
Reta equipped his strongest warriors with the new armor and chose not to wear his set of the armor. His reasoning was, that since everyone was unable to wear it then he should not wear it. He wanted those who couldn't wear the armor to see that he was wearing either as a show that he was like them. With the new armor distributed to those who could wear it, he began to make plans for another raid on Pinnahear. The goal of this raid wasn't to invade the village, it was to raid their ore supplies. Reta knew that in order to make repairs to this new armor and to make weapons that he would need more ore.
With a plan in place, he gathered his warriors and the began the march towards Pinnahear. Crossing into their territory and crossing the Untz River, they were met with a little resistance. The battle hardened Bronzefoots made quick work of the resistance and pushed forward. Reta led the charge into Pinnahear. While most of his forces were attacking Pinnahear, the remaining were to raid the ore supplies in a surprise attack while the Bitter Daggers were busy with the main force. The new armor proved effective against the arrows, and slightly effect against blade attacks. Reta saw a smoke signal from the ore party and then gave the command to retreat. As they were retreating, Reta was struck in the back of the neck by an arrow. He fell instantly to the ground. One of his warriors picked him up and carried him back to Kidhale.
The raid was very successful. They had secured large amounts of iron and copper ore they could use to make new armor and weapons. Ket died year -51BU.
