Verdant Throne

It is said, "The Ngavari were born when their river fed the Verdant Throne." According to all surviving records, this is accurate. Once, they pursued agricultural and pastoral life along the riverside, much like their cousins, the Yarman. But they were reforged as a people when one man bargained with the Verdant Throne, unlocking the secrets of the Green-Art, of intimacy with its Spirits. Remnants of their riverine origins would linger, but as a culture, as a people, they reoriented themselves around that pact, around the Verdant Throne, whixh they exalted as the most high, the growth of new life manifest.

[...][O]ur investigations in this matter have proven nominally fruitful. We have established communication with various kinds of spirits which claim the Verdant Throne to have survived the Sundering of Ngavar, corroborating the Spirits of the Green in Ngavar. Furthermore, they claim its precise location to be obscured by some form of barrier, like a sheet or veil laid over creation. More animalistic spirits do not appear to be obstructed by this, which would suggest it is related to genius of the Shining Majesty. Efforts of discovery are ongoing, and include a synthesis of Rebellion and [...]

Geography

In present day, the Verdant Throne is confined to an underground chamber, surrounded above, below, and on all sides by an oblong deposit of rocksalt with seemingly limitless depth. The chamber itself is also oblong, lined on the bottom with a thick layer of soil, which eventually gives way to rocksalt. A the heart of the chamber is the main structure of the Throne itself, which sheds a light which keeps the chamber constantly illuminated.

Fauna & Flora

The plant life about the Verdant Throne is many and varied, with species that had been thought lost with the Sundering of Ngavar—from grasses to flowers, from sedges to shrubs, and from mosses to trees. The plants are fed by water that drips from the rocksalt walls of the chamber, which drain into the soil. Towards the center of the chamber, one plant species blends into another, the lines of species becoming less and less distinct. At the heart of it all is the main body of the Verdant Throne itself. Its central structure is made from wood, like a mighty tree, but there are visible qualities reminiscent of other plants—fruit, flowers, vines. Its great limbs sprawl over the roof of the chamber, a tangled web of wood, vines, leaves, needles, moss, and fungal growths.   The only creature present, to the degree to which the term is applicable, is a powerful Spirit of the Green, known to the Ngavari as Ghārra, or "Beast." Though possessed of an animalistic degree of intelligence, the Beast is one of the most powerful Spirits of the Green to have ever existed. It formed in ages past, according to Ngavari theology by intentional action by the Throne itself, though many scholars would argue the capacity of the Throne for intentional action. Regardless, it possesses a clear relationship with the Throne, which it guards fiercely.
