The Sump Nest
The Sump Nest is a residential community in The Glimmer Sink, built atop a decaying pipeline above the shifting muck. Home to generations of Sinkers, it’s a cluster of rickety huts and walkways bound together by desperation and ingenuity. Locals speak of ancestral ghosts who either protect the Nest’s residents or drag the unlucky to watery graves.
Demographics
The Sump Nest is home to a tightly-knit, insular community of Sinkers who have lived among the precarious huts and crumbling pipelines for generations. Its population includes families who eke out a living scavenging spectral artifacts, fishing for ghostly eels, and bartering with the occasional outsider brave enough to enter the Sink.
History
The Sump Nest was established by the first Sinkers who dared to settle in the Glimmer Sink after the Big Boil. There are rumors of a pact made with the ancestral spirits, binding the living and the dead in uneasy coexistence.
Architecture
The Nest is an amalgam of salvaged wood, brine-bleached metal, and tattered tarps. Huts cling precariously to the corroded pipeline, connected by swaying rope bridges and narrow planks. Lanterns emitting an eerie greenish glow light the paths, creating an otherworldly atmosphere.
