Ancrane Lemothi
(a.k.a. The Veil)
Ancrane Lemothi is a part of The Mourning, known for her precision and unyielding resolve. Once a figure of high standing in Awarth’s merchant elite, her life was shattered when her husband and children drowned in The Wound, victims of a sabotaged ferry owned by a rival trade house. The official inquiry absolved the perpetrators through bribes and connections, leaving Ancrane with no recourse but grief and fury. Her withdrawal from public life was seen by some as resignation, but in truth, it marked the beginning of her rebirth as one of the Widows’ fiercest advocates.
Within The Mourning, Ancrane is a voice of deliberate, methodical vengeance. She believes that grief must be wielded like a scalpel, cutting away the rot of corruption and leaving lasting scars on the guilty. Her leadership style is precise and calculated—she doesn’t rush decisions, but when she acts, it’s with devastating effect.
Known only as “The Veil” to most Widows, Ancrane never shows her face. She wears mourning attire at all times. Her ledger of names grows longer with each passing year, a solemn reminder that the Widows will never forget—or forgive.
