Lost Souls Bond

The two souls have been foreseen and in moments will be one soul. Goblinkin and Vilerbeast will become something new and unique to this world. I sit now watching the small infant whose name is left unknown and stricken from any record and the tiny vilerbeast both born at the same moment. This child is saving the life of the Vilerbeast. If not bonded the creature would likely have been killed right after its birth. The other mystics are setting up the circle and preparing the sacrifice for the ritual.
This ritual that has been passed down to us from mystics of the past is both fascinating and horrifying. If not done within a few days, it will fail and both will die..painfully. Sometimes it will still fail, but I have a good feeling about today. I think both will survive this one, maybe it is my prescience or just a level of hope. The last three have not survived and I don't want to imagine how the Queen will react if we tell her of our failures. We hide so much from her already.

Effect

This ritual will bond the souls of two creatures. Both creatures will benefit from the bonding by sharing their strengths with each other. The goblinkin will gain the strength of the beast and the vilerbeast will gain the intelligence of the goblinkin.

Side/Secondary Effects

Their souls are bonded and the death of one will ultimately lead to the death of the other.

Detailed Blood Ritual Read at Own Risk

The Vilerbeast blood can not be contaminated, so remember to stop all medicines and tonics for the adult at least a weak before birth. The blood must be prepared within a day of the ritual, if not it will increase the chance of failure. Both of the subjects are placed within the circle and must stay there the entire time. This should not be difficult as both are unable to move much, but have some mystics available to keep watch over them. It requires six, so make sure to have at least nine to watch over them.

When the circle turns blue, which should be a couple of hours into the process, pour the blood on both subjects. The blood must cover every part of their body, remember to not cross the circle during this time. Use magical means to pour and spread the blood. Their should be enough to create a pool under them that will carry the bond. Prod or magically push the subjects to roll in the pool on occasion to keep them covered. Watch for exhaustion by the mystics and have them alternate if necessary. The blood will burn the subjects, but the ritual must continue. If the flesh boils then the ritual failed and both subjects will die.

When the circle turns red, use the holy water to cleanse the subjects of the blood which will heal any burns from the blood. When completely clean and healed make two small incisions on the foot of each subject. Tie the two feet togther with the incisions touching for the final part of the ritual. If it is tied too tight it will risk failure, but if it is too loose they may not touch during the entire ritual. Use magic if necessary to keep the feet together without pushing too tightly. After the ritual both subjects must stay in contact for the next two days. This will increase the chance of success. If both survive after 3 days, the ritual was a success.

Discovery

Not originally called the Lost Souls Bonding, the term eventually replaced whatever the old one might have been. That name is now lost to time. The legends say that the very first mystic came to the land as conflicts with the humans became more numerous and they continued to expand their territory. This mystic is said to be from beyond time itself and brought the blessings of Korath with them. They selected a few goblinkin and taught them how to capture and placate the Vilerbeasts. Then they were taught magic and how to create a bond between the goblinkin and the Vilerbeasts.
This ritual has been used for centuries and has allowed their kingdom to grow well beyond what humans expected and that fear led to all out war.

Soul Bond Experiments

There have been experiments to attempt to soul bond with other creatures. The first was with the Worgs to create even stronger Worg Warriors. This had limited success and a far higher failure rate than that of the Vilderbeast. This ritual is still done on very rare occassions when the Mystics agree that the success is more likely, but very few exist at any one time. When they do, they quickly become leaders within the ranks of the Warriors.
Attempts with other creatures have failed almost completely, even if the bonding succeeds the goblinkin will usually become unstable and violent as they grow and eventually kill their own bonded creature.

The Secrets of the Mystics

The specifics of the rituals are not known outside of the mystics themselves. They keep the entire process secret, including the number of failures and successes. It is unlikely the current monarch even knows how many have failed and how many Sky Shields are actually in the Hall.

Rumors

Many people believe the Mystics are taking far more children than is allowed by The Lost Souls Edict, leading to many rumors around the kingdom.
