Jilar Kanklesten
The head of the Saltmarsh carpenters' guildhall is a snobby and grumpy gnome called Kilar Janklesten.
The guild has plenty of work building houses, assembling fish barrels, repairing docks, and much more. The whole building is a marvel of workmanship, made without a single nail.
Whilst not exactly a people-person there is no doubting Jilar's skill and imagination when it comes to the matter of woodcrafts. He is obsessed with rare woods and has been known to pay handsomely for adventurers to make expeditions in search of specific trees in the Drowned Forest, the Darwood, and even further afield.
Rumours say that Jilar is working on something big that will ensure his name is written down in the histories of his craft. He certainly spends a lot of time in his workshop, from which strange pounding and sawing noises can often be heard.
He wears work clothes that might once have been white, but are now a dirty grey in colour.
Jilar is almost never encountered without several pencils tucked behind his ears, and a leather headstrap that contains pockets for screws and bolts, and mounts a large magnifying eyepiece, is always on top of his head.
The gnome does not suffer fools gladly, and seems to have take a particular dislike to the flighty and energetic gnome Feliza Hemwic.
He is rumoured to be working on some long-planned passion project, though none know what it might be.

Appearance and Mannerisms
Jilar is slightly unkempt, long dark hair sprouting from his chin, nose and ears, but not the top of his head! He is often found covered in sawdust and oily stains, and is often picking detritus out of his ears and nostrils with long, agile fingers.He wears work clothes that might once have been white, but are now a dirty grey in colour.

Apart from redesigning the unusual guildhall itself, Jilar is a renowned worker of woods.
