Hydros III

Geography

Hydros III was a large, Earth-like planet with over half of the land area covered by sprawling red clay canyons. The land to water ratio was 68% water to 32% land. Hydros III maintained higher temperatures from Earth due to its thick, dark blue atmosphere. The planet has 2 major continents, one of which is entirely covered by canyons. Frequent tectonic disturbances change the surface of the planets and often re-route ancient rivers that have dug out the massive canyons. It is believed that an enormous ice melt millions of years ago caused the canyons to form. One large icecap remains on the planets northern pole. A moderate breathing mask is required to exist comfortably on the surface.

Fauna & Flora

Hydros III was home to a relatively small amount of life, most of which was below the oceans in the deep sea. Nearly all of the sea life on Hydros III were filter feeders, since the oceans boasted an unusually large amount of unicellular life. There was no life in the canyon sections of the planet, however there were few shrub and small tree species near the northern pole, the only location where land life was present. The plants were not poisonous.

Natural Resources

Copper, Lead, Silver, Cobalt, and other metals exist in large quantities on Hydros III, making it an excellent location for the creation of complex technology. The windy channels of the canyons formed excellent places to harness wind power as well.
