Hermann C. Flaanger was born into a wealthy family living in Europe, specifically where modern-day Denmark is located. Hermann used his family's wealth to start P.A.C.E Corporation, originally a corporation designing heat-shielding materials. His time on Earth would be shortened by the Nemesis Crisis, but he escaped with as much of his corporate assets as he could fit onto an escape rocket. The rocket landed on Hydros I, where he started a colony and began research into dimensional travel. He used his first dimensional device as a time-machine, to re-establish the colony in the time of earlier 40,000 B.C.E.
Upon re-establishing the colony, he found that the planet had native inhabitants already, referred to as Raythieans. Hermann would develop a strong hatred for Raythieans maintained until his death in 2436.
