Commonwealth Armed Forces
The Commonwealth Armed Forces are the armed forces of the Commonwealth of Man. It consists of four branches, the Commonwealth Army, the Commonwealth Navy, the Commonwealth Marines, and the Commonwealth Colonial Guard. The CAF is commanded directly by the Commonwealth Council.
History
The Commonwealth Armed Forces were first established in 2050 along with the formation of the Commonwealth of Man. The first three branches, the Army, the Navy, and the Marines, were established immediately. The Colonial Guard was formed in 2055 after increasing concerns of rampant piracy became a hot topic in the Commonwealth Council, and the Guard was formed to ensure that each system had a force strong enough to ensure their own safety from pirates.
The CAF spent most of its first fifty years fighting off pirates and insurrectionists on the colonial front. Notable conflicts were the Heimdall Rebellions and the Liberation of Station Delorian from large pirate fleets.
The Commonwealth Armed Forces were successful in its goal of protecting human interests in the The First Contact War that began in 2106. Out of this war, the Commonwealth created the Commonwealth Vanguards, a paramilitary force of elite soldiers capable of conducting missions that other units could not complete.
