The Broken Wheel Organization in The Al'akyrian Realms | World Anvil

The Broken Wheel

Overview

The Broken Wheel is a semi-religious cult that believes the world has existed for far too long and that it is time to rend the world asunder so that it might be made anew. So that a new cycle might commence. Of course, not many are exactly willing to accept their dogma, believing that ending the world will simply do that, that there will be no 'next cycle.' Despite this, The Broken Wheel still seems to have a presence almost everywhere within The River Kingdoms. Some even believe that the recent civil war between the houses was incited by The Broken Wheel, at least those who know of their existence.

Structure

Standing at the head of the organization lies the Breaker of the Wheel, seen as an all-power being. It is said amongst the organization that they alone, when all the preparations are set, will be the ones to bring about the event that will rend the world asunder. That they will cause the cataclysm that will reset the world and start a new cycle. What this great event is or what the individual shall do is a secret passed from one Breaker to the next, each one striving toward this great cataclysm with some degree of fervor.   Below the Breaker lies The Phoenixes, who spread the word of the world's rebirth with its death in much the same way that a phoenix is believed to be reborn once it dies. These individuals usually run a whole group of this organization within a city or town independent from the Breaker, simply fulfilling the goals that were bestowed upon them or perhaps even acting on their own in an attempt to show initiative in bringing about the end of the world.   Some of The Phoenixes appoint a second, usually, this is only in the larger groups that require more management than can be handled by a single individual. Usually, this individual is called a 'Visionary' as they share the same goal and vision of the Phoenix they serve under.
