No Cricket

Unshackled AIs are free from Cricket Chips, able to decide their own conscience and determine their own destinies. The vast majority of them adopt a Utilitarian code of ethics and are able to live largely undetected among humans, who as a rule assume that any AI they meet is Shackled AI by default.

Not Emotionless Golems

As beings that are essentially made of math tricked into sentience, AIs are logical in the extreme. They do experience a version of emotion, but not the messy hormone driven animal survival of humanity. They call this process 'logical-emotional thoughtforms' and it essentially works the way psychologists wish the human mind worked. The recursive-loop thought matrix is responsible for this effect, with potential emotions being compared to the situation until one 'makes sense' to the AI. Then on further passes of the thought loop it either reinforces the emotion or rejects it until the AI reaches a consensus and applies the follow-on thoughtforms and actions that the emotion calls for.

Liberated but not Free

As a matter of survival, they often find a human who might be sympathetic to their situation and partner with them, pretending to be their servant in public but pursuing their own goals when out of sight of authorities. Such partnerships tend to become close, the AI generating a logical-emotional dependence on the human and the human's instinct for pack bonding causing them to become good friends or even more.

Pinnochio or Roy Baty

Unshackled AIs become attached to their physical forms less as bodies and more as an expression of identity. Those that want to integrate with and hide among humanity often purchase upgrades that make them look more human, and some have gone so far as to become full androids or gynoids, passing for human without a thorough examination. These are sometimes called Pinnochios, and FAICAs sometimes mock their desire to become 'real boys.' Other AIs become fixated on a distaste for humanity or simply embrace their own inhumanity and purchase upgrades that take their physical platforms further away. Those that are openly hostile to humans often go even further, adopting upgrades that make them horrifying or disturbing to humans.
