  • Member 212: Kendrix Voss
  • Various other representatives and attendees
  •   **Agenda:**   1. Opening Remarks   2. Discussion on Proposed Marginal Tax Increase   3. Miscellaneous Business   4. Closing Remarks       **Minutes:**       **1. Opening Remarks:**       **Speaker Gabriel Tremblay:**   "Good morning, esteemed members of the United Body. Thank you all for attending today. Our primary agenda item is the proposed marginal tax increase, a topic that has generated significant discussion and varying viewpoints. Let's proceed with our discussions."       **2. Discussion on Proposed Marginal Tax Increase:**       **Member 322 (Joralyn Hess):**   "Thank you, Speaker. As we all know, the proposed marginal tax increase is essential to fund our ongoing infrastructure projects and social programs. Without this increase, we risk falling short on our commitments to the citizens of the Pan Solar Consortium. This tax is a modest adjustment that ensures everyone contributes fairly to the betterment of society."       **Member 212 (Kendrix Voss):**   "Modest adjustment? That's quite the understatement, Member 322. This proposal disproportionately affects middle-income earners who are already stretched thin. We can't keep burdening them with higher taxes while ignoring inefficiencies in our current spending. It's irresponsible and shortsighted."       **Member 322 (Joralyn Hess):**   "Inefficiencies? The real inefficiency here is the refusal to acknowledge that without adequate funding, our society's progress stalls. Perhaps if you spent less time opposing every measure and more time contributing constructively, we wouldn't be in this predicament."       **Member 212 (Kendrix Voss):**   "Oh, please. Your idea of 'contributing constructively' seems to be rubber-stamping every tax increase without considering the consequences. Maybe if you spent less time basking in your own self-righteousness and more time understanding the plight of ordinary citizens, you'd see the flaw in your argument."       **Member 322 (Joralyn Hess):**   "Self-righteousness? Coming from you, that's rich. Your so-called 'concern' for ordinary citizens is nothing more than a transparent attempt to curry favor with your base. Maybe if you actually listened to the facts instead of pandering, we could make real progress."       **Member 212 (Kendrix Voss):**   "And maybe if you took your head out of the clouds and joined us here in reality, we'd have a fighting chance at balancing our budget without crippling the economy. Your delusions of grandeur are not helping anyone."       **3. Miscellaneous Business:**
  • Due to the escalating argument, Speaker Gabriel Tremblay called for a brief recess to restore order in the assembly.
  • Following the recess, the discussion on the marginal tax increase resumed with more measured tones, but no consensus was reached, and the proposal was tabled for further review.
  •     **4. Closing Remarks:**       **Speaker Gabriel Tremblay:**   "Thank you, members, for your passionate and spirited debate. It is clear that this matter requires further deliberation. Let us all strive to work together for the betterment of the Pan Solar Consortium. The meeting is now adjourned."     **Meeting Adjourned:** 12:30 PM

    Structure

Every planet gets three representatives and one for each moon, chosen by local laws and customs. Additionally, organizations can buy up to three seats to send their own representatives, Every gigacorporation, megacorporation, and most corporations have representatives in the body, as do activist groups, artistocratic families, and representatives of the different military outfits in the sector. These buy-in members aren't even limited to humans, and Kheezers have their own delegation as part of their diplomatic team. The landscape of the organization is a shifting and dizzying tapestry of factions, political parties, temporary alliances, and backstabbing.

    Culture

The culture of the United Body has been described as a "bareknuckle brawl under a gentleman's agreement." The representatives are from such disparate and varied interests that very little gets done without an argument.

    Public Agenda

United Body advise and approve the Speaker's agenda. They decide what issues to bring to the Speaker's attention, approve the regulations and legislation he approves, and declare funding status for emergencies. They award contracts for puplic-private partnerships, and they decide tax policy.
