Marcelene's Second Father
Joe Parkman 'discovered' Marcelene Natyme as a child and 'invested' a boatload of cash into her father's business to encourage her continued lessons, then locked her into a contract with Eclipse Entertainment. He took her on the road, promising her father that he'd watch out for her. He rapidly began working on Marcelene to make sure that she didn't keep contact with her father, going so far as to hire shady (generally disgraced or unlicensed) therapists that convinced her that her father was a narcissist and she needed to cut off contact with him.
Her Best Friend and Worst Saboteur
Despite Marcelene's ability to pull in massive revenue, Parkman managed to negotiate as 40-40-20 contract with the corporation. He would receive forty percent of her earnings, Eclipse would keep forty percent, and Marcelene would receive twenty. Even worse, she has a small budget for her tours and pays the rest out of pocket, meaning that while she is wealthy and makes profit on these tours, her margins are unexpectedly tiny compared to other artists. It's only by virtue of her massive success that she's able to overcome Joe's financial controls.
Exploitation Artist
Joe keeps Marcelene on Stetsopharazine, also known as 'Glib,' a social chem that completely removes social anxiety (or rather, just about any sort of anxiety or restraint) and she's become addicted. He makes sure to occasionally dose her before a public event to ensure that she generates a socially unacceptable scandal which he then can clean up (for a fee, of course). There are also unauthorized 'brain maps' for use in computer interfaces and synthetic companion bots, face and body scans for the purposes of plastic surgeries, and even hair and other samples that are rumored to be prepped perfectly for clones. Parkman not only keeps control over Marcelene's social and professional life, but it's possible that there are simply no limits to how much he'll milk his cash cow.
