Remember Sarah Bailey / "Seh-uh Belly", who went from our world to this one after being shot in the head?

She has a younger (older?) brother. Exactly one year before Sarah's death, in the same graveyard on Halloween night, he tried to do a backflip off a tombstone, split his head open and died right in front of Sarah. He was 7 years old at the time and she was 17.

Anyway, in the Afterlife he proceeded to become a legendary mercenary and hero, kicking tonnes of ass both human and otherwise, only to get forced to marry a non-freckled Brijilds - The Fire Family, escape with one of their twin daughters while the other gets to be raised as a brainwashed soldier, and died taking on 13 soldiers at once while his 11-year-old daughter ran away.

As for why he's technically older than Sarah, this was all in the Earth-year that Sarah was still alive before dying because time passes 36.5 times faster in the Afterlife, so he was older than her at the time of her arrival in the Afterlife... and dead.

Personal history

He was born to the Bailey family in 2014 in London, 3 days before Halloween Night, making his birthday 2 days earlier than his older sister's.

He got pretty good treatment tbh there's nothing sad for him other than his older sister sometimes disliking him for getting all the attention until he does that stupid backflip.

On Halloween night he tried to backflip off a tombstone in front of Sarah. He split his head open and, less than a minute later, died.

In the Afterlife, he appeared in the ocean between the Black Forest and Lamara: The Nation of the Gods' Gift Peninsula, but luckily for him he was within sight of the Lamaran coast and was able to swim ashore.

He was adopted by a farming family of Jioctal Lamarans and taught to speak Lamaran.

He ran away when he was 12 due to physical abuse and being told that when he turned 15 he'd be married to the daughter of those who adopted him, who was 2 years older, and decided that he would see every region of Lamara before making a decision on whether or not to return to those who'd adopted him.

He made friends with a traveling trader and his twin children, a boy and a girl both aged 13, and traveled with them for about a week before they were attacked by bandits. He was able to escape but the trader was killed and both of his children were taken captive and raped.

While the bandits were asleep, he snuck into the cave the bandits were dwelling in and rescued the twins.

The 3 of them went to a fortress on Jioctal Lamara's border with Melskun Lamara and reported the bandits. The baron of the fortress, seeking to recruit them, brought them along for the elimination of the bandits and took extra care to take the leader of the bandits alive. He gave the 3 children knives and let them kill the bandit leader who'd raped 2 of them.

For the next 3 years, they were raised in the fortress. Sam was set to be married to the girl twin but instead went to them and talked about how he'd wanted to travel all of Lamara and how they were strong and skilled enough not to really have to worry about bandits.

The 3 of them spent the next 3 years travelling Lamara and getting into all kinds of misadventures. Any time they learned of bandits or other such problems in an area, they'd immediately go and fix the problem with their combat skills, making a massive name for themselves and getting free food and money from the people they fixed the problems of.

During their first year, they encountered the Cult of Lussot and 2 of its female members and a male member joined them, one because she was in love with the boy twin, the next because she was in love with the one who was in love with the boy twin and the male member because he was in love with the female member who was in love with the boy twin... that female member get everyone simping for her.

However, it would all go to crap when Lamara's bazillionth civil war begun over which of 2 twin possible Monarchs would be the Monarch. They refused to join either side but were caught between both sides in a battlefield anyway, and Sam was taken captive with the male former cult member and all others in the adventuring party were killed.

Sam's freckles and gingerness got him noticed by Krusa, the woman leading the army that took him and his friend captive, but she valued his physical strength and skill even more and so used his last remaining friend as a hostage with which to threaten him into fighting for her.

When the war ended, Sam was told that for his many courageous and impressive acts during the war he'd be rewarded in the capital of the Lamaran Empire.

His reward was being banned from leaving the royal palace and being forcibly married to a stranger, specifically a woman called Andraska who was a non-freckled Brijilds - The Fire Family and similarly unenthusiastic about their union.

Andraska was already a mother of 3 children, all non-freckled male Brijilds, but they'd been removed from her because, shortly after the suicide of her husband before Sam, she attempted to smother the youngest of her children.

Thanks to a diet pumped up full of aphrodisiacs, being given fake contraceptives and bonding over common hatred of the royal government, Andraska and Sam found themselves expecting a child.

Andraska gave birth to twins but she and Sam were able to hide the existence of one of them from their handlers. Both were born prematurely but were healthy nonetheless.

Sam and Andraska formulated a plan to escape but Andraska went against that plan by drinking the super special Brijild explosion formula, making herself into a suicide bomber and forcing Sam to only escape with one of the children and assume that the other died in the explosion, which they didn't.

Andraska was the one that put the child that Sam escaped with in his arms, being the one that had blue eyes like her. The one she hid to escape with as part of the plan they formulated and almost killed had green eyes, like Sam.

Unaware of his other daughter being alive, he raised the one he still had in the wilderness of Jioctal Lamara, near the coast so that they could escape to the safe-from-soldiers-but-not-from-terrifying-wildlife Black Forest at any time.

He taught her everything he could. Lamaran speech, how to fight with various weapons (although she ultimately would never be as skilled as her surviving twin sister), hand to hand combat and most of all to hide her abilities.

When his daughter, who he named Sally after his mother on Earth, was 11 she had a friend from a nearby village and through them made other friends and met other children from that village, which was relatively new.

While showing off her fire abilities, she accidentally started a forest fire in which 2 children were killed and multiple others received permanent and in a few cases debilitating burns.

Before Sam and Sally were done packing to get on their boat and go elsewhere, soldiers arrived to scour over the area. Well over 700 were sent but they divided themselves up into many smaller groups to cover more ground and Sam and Sally's house was found by a group of 13 soldiers.

Sam put Sally on the boat, told her to get going and that he'd swim onto the boat once he killed the 13 soldiers and then fought the 13 for as long as he could, actively dodging and blocking their blows. Once he was so injured it was clear he was going to die anyway, he went completely on the offensive, ignoring all further injuries as he fatally wounded all of them.

When further soldiers arrived, Sally was gone and they had no idea where she was. For Lamara, capturing Sally alive is extremely important as she is the last known presumably-fertile female Brijild and as such the only hope of continuing the Brijilds as Andraska killed and wounded so many of the ones being used for breeding further Brijilds in the royal palace.

It's especially important to ensure she doesn't get taken in by an enemy nation, who from her could build up an army of members of the most destructive of the magic families.
