Cult of Lussot

Cults within Lamara are usually organisations dedicated to a few or one of the gods in the Lamaran pantheon.

The gods these people are into are the ones of sex, lust, romantic love, fertility and beauty. Many of these gods are also ones related to entertainment so they're pretty into that as well, doubling as travelling circuses to support their crippling aphrodisiac addictions.

Overall 10/10 place to go into for a little bit and then dip but don't stay too long it's literally a cult and yes they do engage in human sacrifice.

Being in a cult dedicated to a thing is often considered suitable legal coverage to get away with things that are illegal but don't harm or directly harm non-consenting parties. This is the case with this cult in which unmarried sex is the norm.

Structure

Extremely loose. They're essentially travelling groups, doubling as circuses, of anywhere from 20 to 2000 people who fervently worship Lussa and Yugot and only classed as a collective order because they come to Lussa and Yugot's temple every 3 years and listen to the Speaker of Lussa and the Speaker of Yugot.

The position of Speaker of Lussa or Yugot isn't hereditary like a lot of other positions. The new speaker for either is voted for by members of the opposite sex within the cult. It's mostly a popularity contest.

Culture

Very openly horny. Being in the cult and being chaste will get a lot "why are you even here?" looks.

Also child abandonment. Raising kids within the cult isn't allowed so to remain a part of it you're required to abandon the child. The usual practice here is to give them to other cults which do accept children, or to drop them off with others who want to adopt them. It's not abnormal for these children to later still join the cult as they are usually told about the whole "your parents were in a polyamorous drug-addicted religious circus cult and abandoned you with us rather than leave the cult to raise you."

Lots of drugs, especially aphrodisiacs.

Public Agenda

Worship of the gods of romantic love, sex, beauty, lust, fertility and entertainment by trying to be as beautiful as possible, having lots of sex, entertaining people by operating as a traveling circus (also recruiting new members from the towns they go through), selling or giving (depending on which sub-group of the cult) aphrodisiacs and fertility boosters to married peeps and indirectly increasing the genetic variety of settlements that would otherwise fall into inbreeding somewhat quicker through all those kids they drop off.

Assets

Circus equipment and knowledge of how to as well as equipment to grow all sorts of different plants that they use.

History

Founded hundreds of years ago by a Head of Faith back in the pre-monogamy days of Larama: The Nation of the Gods' Gift Peninsula. Nobody's disbanded it since because the travelling circus aspect is helpful to the economy and willingness of the people to put up with ridiculous laws, plus the particular Head of Faith who founded it achieved a lot of other very impressive things.

Mythology & Lore

NOTE: Whether or not this has actually happened in-universe or this is just made up because either every religion except one is made up or all of them are is meant to be ambiguous and stuff:

Lussa and Yugot were created from lust being ripped by the God of Gods ( Lamaran Religion ) from the god and goddess that caused the existence of genitalia and for a time were the grandparents of every 3rd generation god.

When the lust was also taken from the 14th of the first generation goddesses so that she'd stop being so down horrendous (she's done some... strange things with strange things. Canon crow-fucker), it merged with Lussa and this is supposed to be why Lussa is more powerful than Yugot plus why Lussa proceeded to be just as down horrendous as the 14th goddess.

Since Lussa and Yugot are technically extremely powerful spirits rather than gods, they stole the lust from most of the gods and goddesses in the realm of the God of Gods, just as the God of Gods intended, but in doing so made themselves more lustful. Making yourself more lustful but those around you less lustful only goes well up to a point...

They were immediately down horrendous with humans. Whenever a human dies, every act and experience of lust they had in their life feeds Lussa and Yugot.

The Cult of Lugot believes in feeding Lussa and Yugot deliberately so that they can be powerful enough to set Yaldabaoth free from her torment and bring about a utopia for all spirits, humans and gods.
