Session 1 - The Runaway

General Summary

The session began with Stranger drinking a cup of milk in The Tipsy Swan on a quiet morning, with only her and Conall Inglis being in the bar. She is shortly joined by Zul, who asks for water, but then switches to milk after Stranger offers him to try some, and drinks from both his own, and from Strangers cup.

Soe wanders into town, and the first thing she does after walking for the last 14 hours is find somewhere to rest, so the first place she set her eyes on was the inn, which happened to be in The Tipsy Swan. Upon entering, she was only able to see Stranger and Zul, as Conall was in the back. Soe approached the table, and smiled, and Stranger offered her some milk.

Around the time that Conall came back through with another cup of milk for Soe, Eilidh burst into the bar, muttering about her son. When pressed for information by the party and Conall (her cousin), she revealed that her son had run off to join some sort of bandit gang to the north of the village; he had come back that morning to try and intimidate some of her neighbours into giving them gold and supplies, and had bragged about how large the gang was. The party however decided that an hour of rest would be a good idea before helping, however Stranger had all but demanded a reward of pancakes

Soe bought a room to take an hours nap in, with Stranger wrapped around her leg; Zul went into the woods close by to meditate. Upon breaking his meditation, Zul warned off a group of local boys who has been harassing a large river crab.

When Zul got back to The Tipsy Swan, and when Soe and Stranger came down from their room, they found Eilidh sat across from the shaved headed Sherriff of the village, Grayson Cowie. He lets the party know that the gang that Baltair (Eilidh's son) had joined had been accosting merchants travelling along the road between Grayhost and Nigdage. He also lets them know that there is a bounty of 12gp for the arrest of the leader, or proof that the leader is dead.

Stranger made sure that there was still a Pancake Party still on the cards, which it was, if they brought back Baltair; and the party then headed north to find the gang, who were hiding in the ruins of a citadel from before the creation of the Kingdom of Chuvia.

Finding the Gang

Upon approaching the ruins, Stranger was able to hear 6 people inside the ruins, Zul and Soe were able to see one guard on the west gate. They moved around silently to east side, and found another guard on the east one. At this time, Soe climbed onto the the top of the wall, and confirmed that there were indeed 6 inside: 5 farm lads with spears, and a man with a sword. They also started to drill moves with spears.

Stranger listened closely to find the guard on the east gate, and fired an to try and take out the guard non-lethally. However, the arrow was well aimed, but not for the intended purpose, and slashed across the throat of the guard (also seemingly another farm boy), killing him instantly.

Zul then approached the gate, and opened it slowly, and initially wasn't noticed. After a moment the gang leader noticed that Zul was standing there, and barked the order for the 5 to attack, and picked up his shield.

The lads swarmed around the gate, with two being engaged with Zul. Zul casted Shillelagh on his quarterstaff, and struck one of the boys in the head with such force, it instantly killed him. Three of the others took stock of the situation and immediately fled in fear; Baltair on the other hand kept up the fight.

The leader then engaged with Zul, and got a few slashes on him, but he was repelled by Zul, with some helpful Eldritch Blasts from Soe. He then tried to escape through the opposite gate, using the last remaining guard to slow down the rest of the attackers.

As Zul and Soe gave chase, Stranger spoke to Baltair, and convinced him to come back to Winur; though he wasn't happy abou ther wanting to touch his face and hair. Zul ignored the guard trying to stop him, but managed to get within range of the leader again; as the leader kept fleeing, he slashed at Zul doing some near fatal damage and knocked him to the ground, but kept running.

After Soe attempted another blast but missing, the bandit leader ran into the woods and out of site. The last remaining guard surrendered, letting them know that he came from Brentwith Copse, and was called Lyall Potter.

The party searched the ruins, find a few supplies, but most notably they found a book written by Lochlainn Meirgin, and part of a tabard with the Kingdoms crest on it. They would then head back to the village in the next session.

Rewards Granted

They have found 16 copper coins, 12 silver coins, 7 spears (from the bandits/farm boys), the front of a tabard with the Chuvian coat of arms, and a book titled Why the Monarchy is no Longer Worthy by Lochlainn Meirgin.

They will receive the "Pancake Party" next session, but not the bounty as the bandit leader got away.
