Cosmology of the World

The cosmology of this world is divided into two main categories: the Inner Planes and the Outer Planes.

The Inner Planes

The Inner Planes are closely tied to the mortal plane, and they include realms such as the Feywild, Shadowfell, Underdark, and the Elemental Planes. These planes mirror their mortal counterparts but with a unique twist, shaped by the very essence of their own definitions. Each inner plane reflects different aspects of nature, emotion, or magic, but all share a deep connection to the material world.

The Outer Planes

Beyond the Inner Planes, there lie the Outer Planes, including the Heavens, the Hells, and the Abyss. These planes are connected to the mortal realm, but not directly. They exist outside of the material world, yet influence it through subtle forces. The Outer Planes are eternally at war with each other, and their origins pre-date the Great War of Champions. The nature of these planes and their divine purpose is a subject of much debate among scholars and mystics.

The Astral and Ethereal Planes

The Astral Plane and Ethereal Plane are special in that they act as overlays on the mortal plane, allowing travel and communication between planes, but they are not considered separate realms in the same sense as the Inner or Outer Planes.

The Divine Influence

The gods do not reside in any of the planes, whether inner or outer. However, their influence is felt throughout the planes, especially in the Inner Planes, which were derived from the divine forces imparted on the world during the Great War of Champions. These forces shaped the very fabric of the Inner Planes and continue to affect the balance between realms.
This intricate network of planes remains ever-changing, with the mortal world at its center, affected by the eternal struggle between the forces of light and darkness.
