Hera Geographic Location in The 'Verse | World Anvil

Hera

Hera is a large planet orbiting the protostar Murphy, which itself is part of the Georgia system. As one of the three significant Independent worlds during the Unification War, it is often looked upon as the de facto capital of the Independent Movement.   Once the breadbasket of the Boarder worlds, Hera now struggles to feed its own population since the end of the War. Part of the reason is due to the radiation from bombardment suffered during the closing chapters of conflict. But the burdens of bureaucratic control and even spiteful revenge of influential Alliance parliamentary figures who blame the War on Hera are as much the reason, if not more so.   Perhaps the most famous/infamous location on Hera is Serenity Valley, the last major battle of the War.

Natural Resources

Before the War, Hera boasted the most fertile ground in the Georgia system, and perhaps even in the entire 'Verse. As such, it was often nicknamed the "Breadbasket of the Boarder Worlds".   These days, Hera struggles to feed its own population since the end of the War. Most of its populace relies on food vouchers. The official government position is that this is due to the radiation from bombardment suffered during the closing chapters of conflict. And while this is a significant factor, the native Herans and other skeptics point to the undue bureaucratic control, seen as spiteful revenge from influential Alliance parliamentary figures who blame the War squarely on Hera.

There is a lot more work that needs to be done here, but I'm publishing it for word count credit for the World Ember challenge.
