Order of the Secret Dawn

The Order of the Secret Dawn (OSD) is an organization dedicated to restoring magic to Thaecia. It is an order of intel gatherers and spies. The members, called Dawnbreakers, lie in the shadows, always observing. The OSD is based in New Fallsdeep, the capital of Forndole, but its members are found as far as Epsinalda or, rarely, the Uncharted Lands.
Motto: "Control holds back knowledge. Knowledge belongs to all."

Hierarchy

Suncloaks (1 Credit)

Suncloaks take care of menial and simple tasks, be it messenger duty or low-risk spying. After a successful mission, they will gain credits. Once they receive enough credits, they will move up in rank to Secret Seeker.

Secret Seeker (3 Credits)

Secret Seekers are the most active spies and infiltrators. They handle the majority of mid-level tasks such as investigating a specific person or sneaking into a government event.

Sunstrider (10 Credits)

Sunstriders are well respected members of the OSD. They often handle extra-city missions such as one to investigate a rumored magic source in a nearby cave system. They are typically trained to be able to handle combat.

Solas Crypta (20 Credits)

Solas Crypta are upper level members of the OSD. They handle simple managerial tasks such as handing out missions to Suncloaks and Secret Seekers. They investigate serious or dangerous matters and have access to the library of magical artifacts.

Luceras Magnus

The Luceras Magnus is the leader of the OSD. Their previous name is left unknown to members who did not know them before and they are after known only as Luceras Magnus. They handle the most serious of missions and those for Sunstriders and Solas Crypta will typically be handed directly from the Luceras Magnus.

History
The Order of the Secret Dawn was founded in 102 Cleft Era, to combat the anti-magic propaganda handed out by the Empire. At this point, magic was believed to not exist, though there was still a superstition against it and any magic-users, though rare, were imprisoned to uphold the image of a lack of magic. The first leader of the guild, Luceras, was a Duran magic-user who had managed to escape the watchful eyes of the government. From him the role of Luceras Magnus was born for future leaders of the order.

People in Thaecia, as of the Cleft Era, have completely forgotten about magic. Magic users are exceedingly rare and the setting has become that of low-magic.

Magic was taken away from most mortals by Zakraz after a cataclysmic event that caused the splitting of a continent due to a mage attempting to ascend to godhood. This event is also what the Cleft Era is named after.
