Nulltide Bay

Nulltide Bay is possibly the least-understood location of Teshelyn, with even the deepest trenches having more known about them. Its enigmatic reputation is a result of its inaccessibility. Any material that enters the Nulltide - rocks, ships, living things - soon disappears without a trace. Some cultures view it as a gate to the afterlife, while others simply do their best to avoid ever going near it.   The bay plays a role in the folklore of almost every Tesheli culture, likely due to its mention in well-known and ancient whalesongs. After the growth of cetalinguistic study, there was a resurgence of interest in the Nulltide, and dolphin scholars launched several expeditions to attempt to map out the bay using augmented sonar technology. Even with these technological advances, however, the Nulltide is reluctant to give up its secrets, and little progress has been made on its exploration.

Geography

The bay is almost perfectly circular, with about two-thirds of its outline cutting into a large island of the Dirhun archipelago in the northwestern Balacen. Its floor seems to be remarkably flat as well, at least judging from what can be seen from the nearby waters. The remaining third of its boundary extends into the ocean, and is discernible by the transition from the rocky floor of the Balacen to the sandy and smooth floor of the bay. With the ocean floor as the only marker of the Nulltide, travel near the bay is dangerous and difficult. Most of the geography of the bay is known only from balaceti and merfolk descriptions and from dolphin sonar sweeps, neither of which give a complete and reliable understanding of what may lie within its waters.

Fauna & Flora

Absolutely none. The bay is the only truly lifeless location on Teshelyn.

Natural Resources

Sonar sweeps into the bay suggest the presence of reserves of glyph crystals, but without any way to enter the water there is no confirmation of this.
