Beelzebub, Arch-Devil of Envy and Denial, Lady of the Second
Lady of Flies, The Fallen One, Kin-Slayer, The Jealousy, That Which Topples Power
Beelzebub was not the orignal ruler of the second layer of the Hells, but she is perhaps the most hateful and bitter of them all, for she fell from such greatness to the lowest low. It is said thousands of years ago, she was an angel of the most radiant beauty of Caelum. She had found a spell that gave her a mortal visage of skin and a face, letting her be known as the radiant jewel of the heavens. So great was her beauty that it is even said she was on her way to surpassing any god of beauty in reality for herself. Her name at the time was Dina, and she was oh so close to becoming a god of her own right, and even the heavens approved.
However while she showed an aura of grace, beauty, and humility, in her heart was festering the feelings of enviousness. This did not happen at once, and was instead a slow corruption of her will over countless eons. Why shouldn't she be a goddess? Why did she have to deny her own beauty? Why did she have to remain in the heavens when she could instead descend into the mortal realm and let people enjoy and bask in her beauty? These ate at her heart so subtely that not even the other angels would notice, however eventually Dina would be driven mad, as she discovered an artifact of incredible power located in the great mountain where the very Flame resides. In it, was said to be the final piece of the puzzle to perfect beauty, and Dina did crave it so. Though she did at first reject breaking in and stealing it, the mere fact that she didn't have it while the Flame, her father, did drove her to break into the mountain past the Silver Gates. Angels attempted to stop her but she slew them, and when she found the artifact she reached out with her hand, seeing a beautiful future ahead of her.
However, the Flame flickered in not anger, but dispointment, as suddenly Dina was wracked by fire and pain, before a thousand angels pierced her with a thousand spears of light, and cast her down from Caleum, marking her descent into the hells. She awoke burned and scarred, denied this artifact she can hardly remember, within the Second Layer. At the time, the Layer was ruled by a demon known as Dozgan, the lord of refuse and filth. The layer was directly under the layer of wrath and slaughter, and so body parts and viscera would fall into this layer to decorate the landscape in horrid new ways. She approached this Dozgan atop his tower, and Dozgan revealed to her that he was her long lost brother, one of the original to sin againt heaven and be flung. He was overjoyed at his sister finally being reunited with him, and offered her not only shelter but comfort and a place by his side. Would he still be alive had he chosen his words more carefully, for he spoke to her that: "Under me, you shall be cared for, loved like a dear sister and lost friend should. You shall wan't for nothing and be honored by all as I take to rule over the massess." Under his rule? Why should I be under anyone? Dina had just been rejected from being under the smoke of the Flame, why should He, my Brother, rule over me? So it was that embracing her brother, perhaps the single moment of joy this demon had, she suddenly slew him, stranggling him slowly and painfully as she delighted in seeing the horror and confusion drain from his eyes as he died. So it was that the Layer was reconquered, as Dina took up her new name: Beelzebub. In this realm she calls Canizas, she has everything she could want...but she desires what others have. Many is the suitor who attmepts to appease her, only to be crushed, or have it stolen in return for no reward. She is a fickle devil lady, her blessings given as soon as they are gone, but they are powerful indeed. It is no wonder that the craving of better and more, attracts the lowest of us to her. Slaves, lower class, thieves, and the jeaous ones of our society are driven to her, seeing her as a last resort to freedom from this jealousy. But this freedom is no true freedom, and is instead but another form of slavery.
