República de Santo Bartolomé
The República de Santo Bartolomé, also known as Saint Barts, is a city state and minor republic located within the Federal Province of Mora. It governs Bartolomé's Enclave, a small stretch of flat and fertile land surrounded on all sides by the San Bartolomé Mountains. Its largest, and only city is San Bartolomé, located on the shores of the Sangrita Lake, which along with the Alvora River helps to feed Bartolomé's population. It is an independent nation, achieving its freedom following the end of the Tersten State, and a member of the Republic of Tersten.
Santo Bartolomé was first established in 27 PC, a year before the founding of the Tersten State. However, it wasn't until 33 PC that its largest population, the Asani, migrated from Yuklid V to Tersten, where a great many settled in Bartolomé, growing to dominate the city's culture. With them, they brought their belief in the Arywenn, and their strong beliefs in local, regional politics. Their isolation and extremely defensible position offered them a great deal of autonomy, as well as a bloodless independence during the Great Revolution. Attempts to conquer them by the Imperium Valianum failed, with San Bartolomé now firmly established in the modern day. It has very close ties to the Hawarami Federation owing to their large Yuklidean populations, and is an observer state within the Sahamptha Union, though has declined to formally join on several occasions.
Bartolomé is governed by the Council of Twelve, also known as an elected body of representatives of the twelve regions of the city state.
