The Deep Nest

Nikkos Poplar (a.k.a. The Deep Nest)

Profile
Nikkos Poplar, the Deep Nest. He bears an ability born from an intrinsic connection to nature and a blistering rage without an outlet. Born into a massive family of farmers, he grew rather well-acquainted to flora and fauna. Though, the Poplar family were exploited and impoverished which led to an immense hatred to be seeded into Nikkos. Neither him or his family took well to the awakening of his power, its initial outburst being so violent that hunters were dispatched thinking that a great calamity touched-down on a rather unassuming location. Despite this power stemming from Nikkos' intention to help and protect them, much of his family quickly abandoned him, horrified and disgusted by what the believed him to have become. In the end of the ordeal, only Nikkos, his two parents, and their now derelict land remained.
Nikkos has a very conflicting personally so to speak. He rather sunny in disposition, candid and sweet, being effortlessly charming in his bumpkin-like personality. New acquaintances are often besieged with confusion as the wonder how this baby-faced farmhand had the infamous reputation that precedes. It's often left just at that, as few see the rest of him, only stories arising from the times his powers and other parts surface. Nikkos can be very volatile and violent when he feels threatened or cornered, especially so towards people he perceives to be controlling or with ulterior motives, this perceptiveness being seeming to uncharacteristically strong. Furthermore, he maintains a very simple philosophy when it comes to people, he loves and cares for those he's grown attached to and he will not hesitate to deal with anything that threatens them or him permanently, a single promise being what's keeping him for tearing many to sunders. His emotionally driven tendencies as well as his somewhat immature black-and-white perspectives can other leave others frightened or disgusted, seeing him as a ticking time bomb. Regardless, he's found an group of equal oddness that stand by him, and whether his more "homicidal" inclinations either tame or overtake in the future, only time will tell.
Without his remnant, his ability is called "Overgrowth", an EI, and allows him to influence the growth of nearby plant-life. In application he can drastically accelerate the speed of which any flora can grow and the size they can attain. His remnant, Temujin, was born from a violent and almost overbearing love which has been intertwined with his deep-seeded and suppressed hatred.

Temujin, The Horde
The master of this remnant holds a deep love as well as all-consuming anger, the two becoming so intertwined that the master and remnant have nearly fused together. Its untamedness leaves it without form or limit to neither its form or feeling, an amalgam or paradoxical emotion that renders its entire being as uncertainty. This confusion is the nectar the feeds what writhes beneath the surface, being a verdant womb for destruction, the propagation of its brood leaving barren lands and bones picked clean. Its master barely has any control of it, consuming them too within a mire of "life" in a primal, crude form. From within this swamp of uncertainly emerges "life" that reflects its progenitor's sentiments, its form equally abstract and thus only seeks to consume and spread in its state of aimless unrestrained confusion. Its master is then left in a state of necessary vigilance to keep it from even those he cares for, however, though he may endeavor to control and suppress it, for better or for worse, "life" finds a way

Temujin seems to lack an body independent of Nikkos but still carries a disturbing form. When Temujin is called upon Nikkos' body begins to melt and deteriorates into a mass of dark viscous sludge of moss, mold, and micro-flora. This body seems to be very liquid-like and can be reshaped into other forms. Within the body is stored a series of slick crimson roots and branches which almost resemble thick veins and are used as make-shift appendages. This form is capable growing or depleting it's bio-mass to augment its size. This body also appears to be much larger from the inside as it houses its progeny, some of which of sizes that shouldn't fit inside the liquid body.
The unbound ability "Deep Nest" allows for the rapidly develop and cultivation of Temujin's body as well as the many creatures living within, able to amass and manipulate large colonies of insect-like beings or grow individual ones to terrifying sizes, these creature only ever resembling arthropods but nonetheless looking equally alien.
Style and Abilities

Nikkos primarily uses Temujin's power in a combative setting, able to command his creatures while vastly improving bodily dexterity as it essentially liquefies. This liquid body is a primordial ooze that can give rise to entirely new and dangerous insectoid entities all under Nikkos' command. Though he can create swarms of small insects, he's also capable of cultivating gargantuan insects who, with the hastened adaptation, can practically be customized. From parasitic to poisonous, any creature can emerge from his mold.

Nikkos's plant manipulation is rather limited and thus seldom employed by itself, often working in conjunction with Temujin. With Temujin, though the amount of insects is immense, they are still as frail as insects and if someone is able to dispatch large quantities of them at once, swarming an opponents becomes much more difficult. Nikkos is also not much of a strategic fighter, relying more so on overwhelming force. Through his greatest weakness is toward temperature, as high or low enough ones can kill his swarms and slime body very quickly, rendering him useless in areas of extreme cold or heat.

Physical Description

Special abilities

His Overgrowth ability can be very powerful but situational, if there is no flora to command, his ability becomes functionally useless. As such, the abilities of Temujin are used more while in combat. Nikkos doesn't need to melt his entire body to utilize Temujin but can partially melt, like liquefying an arm or leg to use its slime properties or deploy the insects within. Nikkos also has limited control over his insects, able to order them and generally guide their actions, though still completely detached from him. Nikkos doesn't share any senses with his swarm nor can he issue complex commands. Instead whatever abilities that the insects utilize are tools for Nikkos, such as poisoning others with venomous centipedes or utilize webs created by any spiders, even achieving flight by projecting one of his insect's wings out of his back and having it fly.
However, the very form Temujin causes Nikkos to take grant defensive ability. The shifting consistency of his liquid body can render many physical attacks both useless and dangerous, like sticking your hand in an agitated wasp hive. While in this state, any such "wounds" or bodily displacement can be remedies by just shifting back into place, even complete bisection being of no consequence, this sludge body able to separate itself and still control its multiple potions. The crimson roots across his body also have a great degree of strength to them with a grip strength strong enough to crush bones. But this form is not without its detractors. It cannot repair the damage afflicted to Nikkos physical body, and the experience of being in this liquified state being described by Nikkos as incredibly unpleasant, stuck with extreme sensations of crawling-beneath-the-skin and itchiness that grates at his sanity, this being the reason why he employs this form as little as possible. Finally, its greatest weakness is that all can be liquified except for Nikkos' core, creating a lethal weak spot should an opponent manage to find it amongst the swamp of ooze and insects.

Specialized Equipment

Nikkos' unique combat style revolves around a powerful defense with plants while overwhelming opponents with swarming insects from every angle. He often only allows Temujin to takeover a single limb or such instead of his entire body. Nikkos is rather barbaric with his ability, never pulling any punches. He can crush people to death with branches, have his insects devour their flesh to the bone and many other tactics that may very well kill his opponent. This relentless technique creates an effective defense and an inescapable offence. But even this seemingly unbridled barbarism with drowning sludge, monstrous vermin, and floods of insects actually holds a great degree of restraint, Nikkos fighting his own power just as much if not more than his opponent. True unrestraint would entail the abandonment of his own mind, and the recreation of the disaster that earned him his infamy, one that very well may surpass the first.

History

Eve took Nikkos as a hunting apprentice of sorts after his initial outburst and hired his parents are her personal horticulturalists, giving the family that stayed by Nikkos' side livelihood and safety. This was in part a way to sedate Nikkos, to prevent another outburst and keep him from the "dedicated institutions" that often deal with similar situations and were clamoring to "help" him, hopefully helping him to gain full control over a power that rivals ever hers in strength. Though, this also done in part out of a sense of guilt and responsibility, as some of her subordinates played a part in pushing the Poplar family to a breaking point which culminated in Nikkos awakening as a renaissance. Nikkos is aware of the circumstances around their relationship, his emotions cluttered with feelings of affection, admiration, as well as anger and confusion. Despite the hodgepodge of contradicting sentiments, Nikkos still respects her greatly, considering her an honorary family member and strictly upholds the promise Eve asked him to keep, that being not to kill again. Eve reciprocates similar conflicting sentiments, moved by the compassion she's seen Nikkos demonstrate time and time again while also somewhat scared of the catastrophe she knows Nikkos may bring about.
