The Eclipse Thread

The Eclipse Thread (Finsternis Faden) is the enclave of the Academia Casus. The four Deans of the Finsternis Faden are masters of Divining, Necromancy, Abjuration, and Enchanting. The Eclipse Thread functions almost entirely in secret, approaching its prospective members carefully and with caution to ensure only the best of the best are fostered. The ET focuses on preserving the rich tradition of magical history and study.

School Mascot

Spirit Statues - statues imbued with non-sentient undead spirits - serve as the mascots for the Eclipse Thread. These automatons serve as assistants, scholarly clerics, and other simple tasks.

The Deans of the Eclipse Thread

Benjamin Werbel, Dwarf Dean of the School of Necromancy
Benjamin Werbel is an expert on his country’s history, and specializes in being able to conjure up and talk to the spirits of those long dead. He has several treatises that debunk popular myths about some of the ancient fortresses constructed by dwarves, and has contributed to the reconstruction of several buildings wherein the building-techniques were thought lost.   Meister Werbel works as tirelessly as the servants he controls, and rarely has time to teach more than a handful of the more dedicated specialists within the AC. He retains the head position through his research articles and connections to the (Miner’s guild), who work with the dean to make sure the dead stay buried near active mining sites.

Bilzasaviin Co’ormiador, Head of the Enchanter’s Wing
Bilzasaviin always makes sure that no one mispronounces her name or shortens it, as it breeds contempt for her position and stature. She tries to keep a balance between the two paths of her school, enchanting of items vs. persuasion, but ultimately she considers the politics of the non-scaled races to be of continued fascination. Despite age slowly creeping up on her (she is 75), her mind stays agile and she has a reputation of eviscerating her opponents that underestimate her. Rumor about the college speaks of two lists that Bilzasiin keeps in her desk, and while one is a virtual ticket to stardom within her school, the other signals dire portents for the futures of those listed on it.

Adalgrim Fornazey, Halfling Dean of Abjuration
Adalgrim is obsessed with the medical field in his off-time. Specifically, he works on the effects of defensive magics mitigating the physical and psycho-physical effects of magical alteration and assaults. While some of his works seem to run afoul of the more recent ‘ethical’ journal articles published in Eisen, he manages to keep much of that out of the limelight of the AC’s academic catalog, the bulk of his work seems to be modeled around the protection of the mortal body as a sort of precursor to magical armor for average soldiers and citizenry.   Those students who wish to work with him often have to sign a series of waivers, as they can be subjected to his experiments as willing test subjects. Adalgrim is very much at the forefront of trying to integrate elemental technologies, cutting-edge medicine, and traditional magic for the betterment of society.

Remi Gaspar, Half-Elven Dean of Divination
Meister Gaspar hails from the neighboring country of Montaigne, and wears his heritage proudly both from the point of his actual origin, and his ideals. He considers himself a free thinker and a ‘libertine.’ Many of his compatriots wonder how he attained such a responsible position with his outlook, but cannot deny his abilities as a wizard within his field. When he is not out and about carousing or causing mayhem, he works as the head of the debate team for the school and holds drunken philosophy classes at one of the nearby upscale taverns.
