Great Western Corridor

The Great Western Corridor is a continental rift valley in the west of Dendralis that was formed by the Separation. Also known as the Western Rift Valley, the valley traverses the length of the continent, stretching from north to south. The corridor separates the western lands of Dendralis - including the western shores and western highlands - from the remainder of the continent.

Geography

The Great Western Corridor features a significantly varied geography across it's length, with the threat to life being located inversely across lattitudes from its eastern companion, the Great Eastern Corridor. The northernmost stretch of the GWC opens up to Dendralis' northwest corner, home to the Meadows of Luna The valley official begins at the Gates of Luna, the mirrored waterfalls pouring into the valley from the terminusesof the western and northern highlands. The valley in these northern stretches is covered mostly in long prairies grasses that originate in the Meadows. The bulk of the corridor sees the rocky jagged foothils of the western highlands on the western wall, with patches of long gresses growing throughout. The grass-dotted rock land gives way to rocky heath as the valley reaches down towards its southern terminus. The eastern wall features the much older and eroded foothills of the ancient northern highlands, this face far steeper - too steep for vegetation growth beyond mosses, lichens, and the rare tuft of grass - and smoother due o the age and weather patterns of the region. South of this, the corridor is bordered by the western reaches of the Greenwood, the towering Eldertrees replacing the rocky cliffs and hills of the highlands, standing no less imposingly.   For nearly 25% of it's length, the southernmost stretches of the region are comprised of the Fissures, a desolate wasteland of volcanic rock and subsurface lava. This stretch of black rock reaches from the badlands down into the heart of the Emerald Sea, one of the fissures even pouring into the cool marine waters. Free of much vegetation, save occassional shrubs and tufts of grass, the Fissures is easily the least hospitable region of the continent.

It's so different from the Eastern corridor, but just as fascinating. I always love the image of lava pouring into the sea.

Their shape - narrow in the north and wide in the south - is probably the most similar fact about these two regions, scae for their creation. I intend to lean into this region for the remainder of WorldEmber...
