Session 9 Recap
General Summary
Session nine begins in the wee hours of the morning, as TBD recovers from their fight against the banshees. Seeing that the group is exhausted, Elyon Denar offers to let the group sleep in the cart so that they can recover. During this time, the group gets to know each other a little better and the climax of the situation is reached when Eiros, Egon, Nefrea, and Elyon all end up sleeping on a very flustered Elenna. The group wakes to their arrival in Oldwatch, but Felps informs them that something is off. Stepping out, the group sees that the town appears to have something very off about it: the streets seem oddly empty, an unusual mist hangs over the town, and the overall aura of the place immediately puts Nefrea on edge.
Elyon thanks the group for escorting her caravan and pays them for her troubles. She and the rest of her group head off to meet up with her escort to Southspire at the The Running Bow Inn. TBD attempts to gather information from the locals, but finds their answers to be oddly short. Reconvening at the inn, the group meets Letara, the magical kalashtar inn keeper who seems to be a friend of Elyon. The group is surprised to see Elyon is still there, as it turns out her escorts have yet to arrive to Oldwatch, signifying something has possibly taken a turn for the worst...
The group learns from Letara (through her ability to interact with dreams) that three days ago, the people of Oldwatch (specifically the humans) began to have "loud and chaotic dreams". Letara is unsure as to what the cause of this may be, but she knows it can't be good. The group elects to head to the Oldwatch chapter of the Aryan Adventurer's Guild to get their reward for finishing their latest mission. Along the way, they stop to witness a demonstration by a member of the strange cult they had seen before. This member, who also happened to be blonde haired, attempted to encourage the townspeople to join "The Apostles of Calamity" during an impromptu sermon in the market area.
Getting to the chapter house, the group meets Wilma Rex, the Guildmaster for the chapter. The chapterhouse is oddly quiet, with no other adventurers in sight. Wilma appears to be in a state of disarray, and as the group learns, this is due to the disappearance of her husband Admus Rex and her overall inability to get proper sleep.
The group learns that Wilma and her husband had experienced strange dreams, and the night before, Wilma awoke from a nightmare to find herself by her front door, with her husband having disappeared entirely. Looking in Admus' journal, Egon discovers the words CALL OF THE VOID written over and over again. Wilma requests that the group locate her husband, offering to reward them for their efforts (though Elenna insisted they would do it without a reward).
As the group left, Eiros noticed a nice red jacket hanging on the door. Heading back to the Running Bow Inn, the group comes up with a plan to investigate more of the town with Elyon. As they get back to the marketplace, they find the area deserted. In the distance, a rumbling is heard...
