Session 11 Recap
General Summary
The party answered the door to find a very offbeat wilma. The old woman was walking in a strange pattern and muttering to herself, seemingly uninterested in her returned husband. This was especially interesting considering she had just managed to claw her way out of the dwelling Egon deadbolted her in. Responding accordingly, Elenna promptly slapped the old lady and brought her to the ground. Wilma shook off the strike, and turned her attention excitedly on Nefrea, who responded accordingly by throwing the old woman into the wall, much to the ire of Elyon and Admus.
It was at this point that the party learned that Wilma was being possessed by someone who identified only as, “The Deacon”. The Deacon again expressed an interest in Nefrea, and not so humbly requested that the party deal with the spreading rift in the woods near town. According to him, he had accidentally opened it, and simply didn’t have the means to deal with it. He also casually referred to Elyon as your majesty, confirming her identity as Tirel Arden to the rest of the party.
Putting the pending conversation with Elyon on pause, the party headed out with Lenara in tow to deal with the rift. This turned out to be a little more than they had bargained for, as a very undead Zachariah emerged from the rift and proceeded to promptly pursue Egon for leaving him to die.
Despite a fair amount of tightrope walking and almost dead party members, the group was able to turn the fight in their favor with a well placed strike from Elenna. However, Egon barely had time to mend Talos before the group was struck by four well placed poison daggers, incapacitating Nefrea and dropping Eiros and Elenna (though the latter did attempt to block the strike with her Purple flame blade spell).
Out of the mist stepped the deacon himself and one masked individual. He thanked the group for dealing with his problem and assured them that Wilma had been let go. Lenara attempted to cast a spell at him but found herself at the wrong end of the deacon’s weapon, a very long, black, scythe. Another bombshell rocked the group as the masked figure revealed themself to be Maleris, the thief responsible for killing Zachariah back in their lighthouse endeavor. He expressed mild amusement at meeting the group again, and seemed to express explicit pleasure in having bested Eiros (for the moment).
Expressing a strange sense of honor, the deacon encouraged the party to consider their options carefully. Before meeting him at the Obsidian Grove. Before he was able to depart, he was attacked by a previously absent Barcroft, who he promptly sliced through like butter.
