Political event
General Simon, in the wake of strengthened barbarian attacks from the East and poor leadership from the Imperial heir he pledged his allegiance to 13 year prior in the Civil War, thought best to elevate his position of Imperial Governor of Durna into an Emperor of his own making. An expert administrator, now King Simon could directly defend the borders of civilisation without having to sacrifice legions westward to fight against the Korgs. Simon set out to make his own Empire in Dagorland's image. His Senate was formed of prominent Border Princes, military leaders, and Imperialised chieftains, while Legionaries formed a new Simonian Eagleguard. Adopting the defence-in-depth method, Simon would start to reoccupy many forts across Durna and fund strong cavalry units, ready to respond to any raids and invasions. Alliances with willing tribes along the borders, which the GWE had shown only aggression to, also proved useful as a first line of defence. For instance, the Dankori's support was valuable to Simon and Legionaries were recruited from their young men, creating a new type of soldier, with Elgerlorian military traditions combined with barbaric aggression and strength.
