House Talvelson of Talvel's Point

Written by David_Ulph

Characteristics

Nobility

Talvelson Lords wear dyed blue tunics and ermine-fur cloaks with wolf-fur around the shoulders like most other Korg nobles. The tunic will either be plain or will be embroidered at the front chest with the sigil of the black crown. Around the waist will be a thin leather belt, designed with small Talvelson Coats of Arms. As a Korg House that prefers it's nobility as cavalry, most lords wear high riding boots. In battle, a steel cuirass is worn under a surcoat fashioned as the House Coat of Arms, with quilted dark-brown leather underneath it all. Many also wear a further layer of dark chainmail underneath. Protecting their legs, they will wear steel composite chausses.

Talvelson Ladies also wear the fur cloaks of their brothers and husbands, and will often wear either blue dresses or white dresses with a blue saltire design across the chest. As pious worshippers of the God Thodir, the Talvelsons show this off with jewellery such as neck-chains an necklaces showing the symbols of Thodir. During public events or when visiting the courts of the Emperor, the long tunics are replaced with pure white high collared linen shirts, tight blue or white hoses and fashionable hats.

Horses ridden by Talvelson noble cavalry are all equipped with mail chanfrons and crinieres, white caparisons with crossing blue patterns (or mirroring personal coats of arms if they are extremely different), noble bridles and saddles, and intricate horseshoes designed to accelerate the horse's trot and canter.

The familiar facial features of House Talvelson are golden eyes (possibly hinting at ancestral relations with the Seer Houses) and blonde hair. Faces are dominated by large hooked noses. Skin is soft and fair, like many Korgs. The House is noted to be rather bold and outspoken, despite their lesser noble stature, and are extremely pious to the god Thodir.

Military

The City Watchmen of Talvel's Point are clad in gambeson armour and light blue cloth all marked with the sigil of the Emperor. They are armed with either halberds or crossbows. Knights are mounted and often employ pincer movements like their Imperial cousins.

History

House Talvelson is often regarded as being founded by a son of Talvyl and so a Dathranii Human. In fact the black crown of the House's shield is the ancient crown of the Dathranii peoples. Since the current family are noticeably Korgs, it is theorised that either they are actually Korg-Human half-breeds or the true Talvelsons were eradicated in the Southern Migration of Korgs and a Korg family just used their name.
