Pursuivant
Overview
Traditionally a Pursuivant is a messenger or courier who has been designated trustworthy to a major city, town, or noble. However, in modern use, it is also a Pursuer of Foes or Targets, sending a message of vengeance. It is a junior officer rank. that allows for safe and swift passage in the pursuit of their duties, in keeping with the origins of the post - but is now linked more with to the Speed of Vengeance or Justice when a Pursuivant is released upon a target by the community.Title Usage
The Title is used with a Prefix statement of either the location from which the Pursuivant gained their title, or from the act that was performed to gain the title.Example: Atlantis Pursuivant, or Troll-defiling Pursuivant
Training Rewards
The Pursuivant title recipient may choose from a set of Herald and Scout related secondary and active skills. The recipient receives 3 points to spend on these skills, to be spent as they see fit.
1. +1 damage to the type of creature that was pursued (if appropriate) 2 points.
2. Intimidation skill 1 point
3. Torture Skill 1 point (Accelerated Intimidation 1D4X10% faster in results)
4. Lore Skill (Of creature or items involved in pursuit) - deep knowledge of them 1 point
5. +1 on ALL checks using skills that involve following, judging, observing or interacting with the type of creature pursued (if appropriate) 2 points
6. Negotiation Skill 1 point
7. Strategic Evaluation ( see Observation skill in Complete Ninja;s Guide - pertaining to military layout and encampments when delivering messages) 1 point
8. Detect Influence (Can detect presence of pursued creature/target in 10') INT check 1 point
Qualifications
The individual must have pursued an enemy of the city, town or a fortification and destroyed it.
Requirements
The individual must have received a proclamation that it is a Pursuit Mission, or Pursuivant Endowing Task from an official authorised to issue such a designation, and bring back proof of value to the community that was endangered.
Appointment
The Appointment is given after proof is shown of the task being completed. The would -be Pursuivant must then take his or her Oath and is then bestowed with a Surcoat of Pursuivance, and a Pursuivant Title/Designation .
The Oath of the Pursuivant

That you shall dispose yourself to be discreet and sober in your appearance, and be not too busy in language, ready to commend and loth to blame, and diligent in your service, eschewing from vices, and drawing to virtues, and true in reports, and so to exercise while you be in the office thereof, so that your merits may cause you to gain more honor, for while you be and stand pursuivant you stand as both an officer of arms, and as a servant to more noble causes. Do you choose to uphold these promises so help you by the power of the Gods and all holidom

Duties
The role is largely an honorific and has no duties accompanying it. Traditionally the Pursuivant was seen as someone reliable enough to pass on of messages, orders, or instructions should the individual be called into service. The pursuit of an enemy of the community shows both the rseourcefulnes and trustworthiness necessary for such a role. It is rumored that the role has several side-benefits that are secrets to the title holders.
Responsibilities
If pressed to serve, then the responsibilities are normally to deliver whatever order or instruction is required of them, destroy the enemy designated as their main target, or collect information necessary for decisive action, in as short a time as possible.
Benefits
The Pursuivant can be given a steed or mount to aid in their delivery of any given message. They are permitted to travel through any gate, crossing or toll, at speed and without hindrance - provided the enchantment of pursuivance is visible over them as they move.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Surcoat or Tabard is given and a seal of office. Some also give a certificate of service.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Loss of honor through direct betrayal of the donor city, town or fortification.
