Character Creation - First Steps
Character Creation in Silver Sands
The creation of a character is largely the same as a Standard AD&D Character, with the following changes:Character Generation
The continent is based on ancient Greek ideals of character and physicality, this means that the seventh Attribute of Comeliness has been included in the game and is of importance in some situations, this especially the case in dealing with the priesthood of Aphrodite.Race Choice
Only Humans, Elves, Half-Elves and Dwarves are standard races available, however other races from Unearthed Arcana can be used - but are by their nature alien to the Atlantean region and may face challenges fitting in. The above Atlantean Variant races of Elves, Dwarves, and Humans are supplemented with Brazen, and Noble Atlantean Human races, however with recent changes from a Global Event - the number of races may in fact be far greater.Class Choice
Any class normally selected in Version 2 AD&D or in the supplemental books are available - this expands the scope greatly of each character's potential. There are two specialised Classes: The Daughter of Delphi and Circean Witch - which are potentially usable as Player Characters but it is not recommended due to their extreme specialisation in non-combat related magic. Consult with the DM if you are unsure whether any of these are available in the campaign.Age
Use the Age Charts provided - these come from the first version of the game.Birth Details
The Age of the character will determine how the Atlantean Zodiac affects the character's initial circumstances and in many cases how they use some non weapon proficiencies.Day of Birth
All characters should throw 3d10-2 to determine which day of the month they are born on. It does not affect their scores or gear in any way normally.Month of Birth
All non-elven characters should throw 4d4-3 to determine which of the 13 months that they were born on. Elven characters should throw 1d12. This birth determines an adjustment to the character's initial money and/or items.Character Social Class
The Atlantean Races are very society focused, and are in some cases even descended from Gods, this enables all characters to determine their social status on the Social Class Chart (Page 82 AD&D Unearthed Arcana )However Atlanteans are inherently from a more noble stock, this allows characters to be of a higher social class than usual (5D10+ 50). This gives characters only a 1% chance to come from Middle Middle Class families, and increases their chances of coming from higher ranking parts of society.
Page 25 of the AD&D Unearthed Arcana outlines the money and gear available to all Fighter Classes and Sub-classes of the Higher Social Classes.
Other Classes all have their starting money calculated with the sale of unnecessary equipment from the same listing.
