Elfspire

Elfspire, also known as the Circular City, is the capital city of the Queendom of Esteria. The same as most capital cities in the world it is built on top of elven ruins. In this case, however, the elven ruins were not a city. Elfspire rose around a ruined tower which most probably belonged to an elven wizard. It was adapted by humans to serve as the royal castle and a centre of government.

The precision in which the circular city of Elfspire was built is remarkable. I don't think even the elves have achieved that level of perfection in architectural design

Government

The city is governed by a city council elected by its inhabitants and a mayor elected by the council from itself. They manage the day-to-day operations of the city. However, the mayor isn't the highest authority in Elfspire. The city falls under the rule of the First Dame of Elfspire, head of the council of dames that acts as an advisory body to the Queen of Esteria. The First Dame has the right to overturn any decision of the council, can assume the role of mayor in an emergency and commands the city militia in battle.

Architecture

Elfspire is built in a circle around the elven tower that serves as the royal castle. From the tower there are four streets going to four sides of the world creating a clear division of the city into four districts. The architectural style of the districts is completely human. 3-4 storey buildings of bricks or stone with pitched roofs.

The whole city is surrounded by high stone walls, the design of which was inspired by uncovered elven designs. Throughout history Elfspire has been besieged many times, but the wall was never breached.
