Kern Imperium
The Kern Imperium is the northwesternmost of the Vermos Kingdoms, stretching from the Kingswoods in the north to the Anvil Peaks in the south, and encapsulating their sister range, the Azophel Mountains. The capital city of Blackwater sits alongside the Bronze River, and is one of the richest cities in all of Terra Argos, with a steady flow of precious metals, stones, and manufactured goods flowing down the river to the Guildlands, supplied by the many mines and workshops that dot the nearby mountain range.
When the invasion of Mongrelfolk struck West Malagar, the Kern Imperium was the first of the future kingdoms to be attacked, and lost nearly all of its land to the invading hordes before Lord Vermos was able to stop the advance at Jeneratt Hold, just outside of Blackwater. The "Blood of Blackwater" is still talked about amongst the denizens of West Malagar, synonymous with disaster and horrific loss of life. Ever since, the Imperium has focused immense resources on the securing of their coasts. The cities of Straid and Tazvar serve as bookends to a nigh-unbroken line of outposts and strongholds lining their northern coast, manned by the Imperium's Marakh Guard , a small but elite fighting force rivaling even the Knights of Gwynd. The ghosts of the thousands of lives lost in the invasion still hang over the Imperium, and even now, they are careful never to forget the folly that may befall the unprepared.
