The Ring of Fire
"ALL THESE STARS ARE YOURS - EXCEPT EARTH. DO NOT APPROACH IT." -An old warning left behind by the NanajiThe Ring of Fire is the overarching main setting of TERRA AFTER EARTH. This ring-shaped galaxy formed after the collision of two smaller galaxies called Andromeda and Milky Way 25 Billion years ago and thus became the biggest galaxy of the Serpent-Cluster.
Geography
The Ring of Fire is a Galaxy that spans over 528.500 Lightyears and has formed into a large ring following the collision of two smaller galaxies. This Ring contains several billion planets each with their own unique geographic quirks. It is to note that despite the galaxy being shaped like a ring, traversing it full circle has been made impossible due to a large catastrophe 12.000 years ago which made several thousands of stars go supernova, creating an anomaly that is called the Gravity Well. This area of the galaxy is impossible to navigate through, effectively splitting the Ring into a bottom half and an upper half.
The center of the Galaxy is mostly starless space, except for the Great One, an anomaly that is caused by billions of stars being torn towards the galactic center, creating one massive sun. However, it was revelaed that the Great One is a phenomenon caused by the T´Chora, who used the stars to create a natural border in order to protect the Pillar of Creation, a large super structure serving as the center of the galaxy that connects all other galaxies over a portal. Since this place was only intended to be used by highly advanced space faring civilizations, it can only be accessed over one of 4 Portals scattered across the Ring.
Localized Phenomena
As a result of being created by the T´Chora, all galaxies in the universe are "programmed" to have certain similarities:
Each galaxy needs to have a pillar, its center from which races can travel to other galaxies as well as atleast two Gateways allowing civilizations to reach their Pillar in first place. While the Pillars are giant megastructures in space, Gateways are much smaller and located on mostly barren Planets that can only be accesses via interstellar travel.
To protect the Gateways and ensure interstellar peace, every galaxy develops one Roc Homeworld, as the Roc are the T´Choras chosen sentinels that are meant to protect the universe from another possible Cronos attack.
Also, the Ring of Fire is one of the many galaxies housing the Mimikry-Earth Phenomena, a strange anomaly that creates multiple Earths. The most important detail here however is that the Ring of Fire also houses the original Earth, also known as Terra.
History
"I actually wanted to study galactic history, but the University told me that my life expectancy was not high enough to guarantee any solid results from that subject. That was not a joke by the way." -AiriDue to a galaxy-wide conflict known as the Regression Wars, much of the Ring of Fires political history is lost. Researchers concluded that several billions of years ago, a large galaxy called the Milky Way collided with a smaller sattelite galaxy, Andromeda, thus creating a ring shaped supersized galaxy due to the heavy gravitational pull. Since it was confirmed that all current galaxies were created by the T´Chora, this would mean that the Ring of Fire would be the first galaxy to naturally form during a collision event. This also means that the Ring of Fire now should have two Pillars and four Gateways, as a result of Project Zero-Point. Life in the Ring of Fire began relatively early in the universes history, tough it would take a long time for these civilizations to finally become space faring empires. The earlies records of interstellar travel and alliances between different races date back roughly 27.000.000 years, when the ancient Ahura built their interstellar empire. After a war with the Cronos, the Ahura vanished, leaving behind millions of old ruins all around the galaxy. These ruins would later be studied by the Central Galactic Union, a large empire founded by the Roc to unite all space faring species under a single banner. They ruled the galaxy for thousands of years, until their empire crumbled as well for a similar reason. The individuel species within this empire began to fight eachother for dominance, resulting in a devastating conflict that would shape the galaxy as we know today: The Regression wars. Due to highly advanced weaponry being used, many species became infertile and/or regressed back to their primal states following the impact of chemical weapons, completely reverting large portions of the galaxy back to the stone age. In addittion to that, the detonation of a Gravity Bomb in a faraway star system created a chain reaction that resulted into millions of stars going supernova at once, creating the Gravity Well, an anomaly that would be a natural border to anyone wanting to enter the northern half of the galaxy. After the Regression Wars were over, 12.000 years passed until the galaxy managed to recover. As a result, two new factions emerged: The Azura, a species dominated by eugenics and military conquest and the Covenant of the Allied Stars, a conglomerate formed by thousands of space faring species to establish a trading union where every member could live in prosperity. However, the balance of power within the Ring of Fire would be greatly disrupted when a new empire entered the stage: Humanity. And this is where the events of TERRA AFTER EARTH begin.

UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY WILL BE SEVERELY PUNISHED" -Warning by the Coalescence Ministry of Intergalactic TravelWithin the Ring of Fire, several tourism agencies have bought up entire planets to turn them into vacation sites. Aciel Star Trips would be the biggest of them all, owning about 350 star systems all over the Covenants territory for all kinds of vacations, be it a relaxed sea resort or a skydiving trip on a gas giant. So far, there´s only one Human-owned traveling agency: Triple A Traveling lead by the human billionnaire Gil McForce.
