Introduction

Echo is never far from her keyboard, even while sleeping, and the rest of the crew joke about how it almost a part of her. To Echo however, this is precisely how she feels about it. It controls many aspects of her hover chair, keeps her connected to the ship at all times, and allows her to hook into systems she might normally not be able to use. She also uses it to write her "web serials". While most people these days use touch pads or voice recognition software, Echo says she just like the physical act of typing and the feel of keys.

Design

It started out as a high end, but retro, keyboard, found on a junk and parts stall on one of the rim planets. It has since been heavily redesigned by Echo and Scax'uk, though they have tried to keep as much of the original style as possible. The casing has been replaced by a toughened lightweight one, two extra rows of keys have been added, and a gel like sealant from Scax'uk's home planet has been used to make it completely waterproof. Scax'uk also coated all the heat producing components with a heat absorbant paste that he created himself.

Mobility

Scax'uk added a folding arm system to Echo's chair to allow her to reposition the keyboard, and even added a slot for the keyboard to be stored in. The keyboard is wirelessly connected to the ships computer, so Echo has access from wherever on the ship she may be. He also fitted some lighweight, reinforced legs so that Echo use it from her bed, from an either a sitting or lying position.
