Kitsune

Kitsune are believed to descend from the children of Tamamo-no-Mae. This ancient link to the goddess, though hard to verify, commands adoration and respect within The Gem Islands (where they make up the bulk of the nobility), and is grudgingly tolerated by the empire.

Physical Characteristics

Kitsune possess two forms: their true form, and an alternate form. In their true form, they appear as attractive, slender Humans with distinct vulpine features, such as fox ears, facial markings resembling whiskers, and one or more fox tails. They gain more tails as they grow older and more powerful, up to a maximum of nine; however, only a few kitsune have ever reached nine tails, and their names and deeds are the stuff of legends.   Their alternate form can be either that of a full human form devoid of vulpine traits, or that of a true fox form devoid of any human traits. Each Kitsune has access to only one or the other, but can switch between these forms and their natural form at will, allowing them to blend in with human society or embrace their vulpine heritage as they please.

You must choose whether your character is human born or fox born:
  • Human born: You are capable of using alter self at will, but only to change yourself into medium humanoids, and without gaining any ability scores or special abilities from the change. By default, you take on the appearance of yourself as a human, losing all vulpine features without changing anything else. However, while looking into a mirror, you may take on the appearance of any creature that has been reflected by that mirror in the last hour, so long as they are a medium humanoid.
  • Fox born: You are capable of using beast shape II at will, but only to transform yourself into a tiny fox. Your fox appearance is unique to you and always the same, but each time you change you may choose whether to display only one of your tails, or all of them.
  •   Languages: Kitsune begin play speaking Imperial Basic and Housekigo. Kitsune with high Intelligence scores can choose any common or advance languages they want.
